Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas

I was wondering if anyone went to the movie Saving Christmas. I have mixed feelings, but a part of me wants to go. I don’t know if Kirk Cameron has all his facts right about St. Nicholas and the Catholic Church.

When he talks about the Catholic Church he just says “they”, however he seems to be softening up to the Catholic Church more than he was years ago when we were all damned to hell. He now Celebrates Halloween because of All Saints and All Souls.

I just don’t know. What do you all think?

Kirk Cameron is a has-been child actor whose ‘career’ and tv show, the name of which escapes me at the moment, were forgotten twenty four hours after it was cancelled. He ‘revived’ his status by associating himself with the crooked TBN network and preaching his anti-Catholic, sanctimonious ‘gospel’ to whoever listens.
Why would anyone waste their time listening to him is my question?

He is a loose cannon when it comes to spouting anti-Catholic rhetoric and his “Left Behind” rapture movies. To me, he’s almost as bad as the infamous Westboro Baptist Church family.🤷

Meh. I saw a preview for it a while back. I don’t know much about Cameron or his views, but the movie itself just looked cheesy.

I’m not a big fan of Christian movies in general though, to be honest. I feel like they’re more focused on getting a “good message” across than actually making a good film. This one looks like another one of those movies that will just end up preaching to the choir.

So yeah I’m going to skip it myself. But that’s just me.

I was going to post this info, but possibly the people doing the ranking are anti-christian or anti-kirk cameron because he is a christian?

I myself am not a kirk cameron fan or a fan of christian films and I don’t have a clue what it is about. I don’t plan to see it.

Even if IMDB is allegedly run by anti-religious leftists, I don’t think it’s grounds to put down any criticism they have towards a filmmaker/novelist we Catholics have no love for either. On the contrary, it shows we could have a lot of good things in common.

I don’t know what their criticism of the movie is, but to be #1 of the worst 100 movies of the year or ever is really bad.
Generally, I don’t agree with critics so I rarely go by what they say.
They raved about the movie Gone Girl and I thought it was horrible.
I assume Surviving Christmas has a Christian theme to it.
So the poster wanting to know if the movie is good or not-I don’t know if I would go by the IMDB critic.

But hey, for once the ‘leftists’ of IMDB agree with the Christians of CAF. Can’t you just thank God for that and let it be? :o

I haven’t seen the movie so I don’t know if I agree that this is the #1 worst movie or not.
I did google kirk cameron and anti-catholicism and read some interesting things. I don’t pay attention to kirk cameron, I never saw his other movies. All I know is that he is christian.

I like the IMDB website. I go there often to get info about directors, actors and movies.
 
I haven’t seen it on the advice of my sister and a friend. Usually, I try to see Christian movies just to support the idea of them even though I think most of them are cheesy, and poorly written and acted. I even have a soft spot for Kirk Cameron.

My sister, who has an extremely high tolerance for the cheesiness of Christian movies and loves quite a few of them I could barely sit through, couldn’t make it through Saving Christmas. She and her friend left after watching most of it. She said it was really, really bad. She liked the general idea of the plot-line, but thought the acting and dialogue were so bad she couldn’t make it through to the end.
 
I think this review from the Roger Ebert website explains why the movie appeals to practically no one. The opening:
Every holiday season sees a new influx of Christmas movies desperate to become the next big seasonal perennial destined to provide laughter, tears, humanity and healthy residuals for years to come. A majority of these films tend to feature characters who despair that the true meaning of the season has been lost, replaced with people more concerned with having the tallest tree, the biggest ham, the largest party and the most gifts. “Saving Christmas” falls along these lines, but I must say that it may be the first one, at least that I can recall, where that particular character is considered to be the bad guy who wants to spoil things for everyone else.

I genuinely struggle to take him seriously. It is uncharitable to say but true. His sister too.
