I am wondering if this is something that varies by parish or not. At my home parish, we kneel during the Consecration, but as soon as the cantor announces the Communion song (which I see as unnecessary), everyone has a seat, follows the music, and waits for their turn to go up and receive. When they get back to their seat, most people do kneel, but then sit back down, not kneel until the Sacrament is in the Taberbacle. My boyfriend’s church kneels the whole time of the Eucharist being distributed, and sits when it is back in the Tabernacle. He says that is what you are supposed to do, and he isn’t even religious (which I have tlaked about in various other threads, so it’s not for here). Everyone at the Mass I go to here at college does the latter too, and I personally find it more reverent. But is it the rule, or does it vary? My parish has been doing what I described for as long as I can remember. I never knew of anything being done differenty until I first went to my boyfriend’s church.
