Recently, I’ve read that kneeling for communion qualifies as “unwritten ecclesiastical tradition,” and as such, it would seem it cannot be rejected or disobeyed, understanding the 4th anathema of the Second Ecumenical Council of Nicea: “If anyone rejects any written or unwritten tradition of the Church, let him be anathema.”

This confuses me tremendously. I admire people who wish to receive kneeling at the Novus Ordo, but I do not want to make a spectacle out of it, or risk having someone trip over me. So many people I know are very orthodox, traditional Catholics, yet still receive standing at NO masses. Would it be sinful for me to not kneel, or am I free to stand for reception of the Eucharist if it seems to be the proper thing to do?
