Kneeling in presence of the Blessed Sacrament at the Lit of the Eucharist

What is the ‘rule’ for kneeling during the Liturgy of the Eucharist after the hosts have transubstaciated (sp?) and become the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ until they are either consumed or placed back in the tabernacle?

I find it disturbing that in our parish as soon as one of our parishoners go to recieve Our Savior, a vast majority of parishoners refrains from kneeling and sits in wait to file into line. In addition, rarely anyone stays kneeling after receiving for any length of time. I find it hard to find even 1 other person who lasts until the Body and Blood have either been consumed or placed in their tabernacle. I always thought that we were to kneel until the priest sat back down after the end of the liturgy.

So What’s the real deal? Should I ask my pastor about this?

In our Parish we kneel until the Priest puts the Blessed Sacrament into the Tabernacle and sits down. Some people then sit but I remain kneeling until the Priest stands for the Blessing then I stand. Since I am also an EMHC, I have little time to pray following Communion, so I take all the time I can to feel the Lord’s presence.

The GIRM states (in its adaptation for dioceses of the US) that we are to kneel beginning after the singing of the Sanctus until after the Great Amen. Then again kneel after the Agnus Dei unless the local bishop determines otherwise. Thre is no indication of the posture for communion or after with these adaptations so it is assumed to follow the GRIM without the adaptations which also states, generally, one stands from before the prayer over the offerings until the end of Mass, and that one may sit or kneel while the period of sacred silence after Communion is observed. So there is no need to talk to your pastor about what is going on as nothing wrong is happening.
