Kneeling or Bowing for the Holy Eucharist?

This is an uncharitable way to assume motives. Do you think people shouldn’t kneel?

I don’t understand your point. Are you telling me I should worry about what other people think?

I really do not care what posture people use. I just want them to consider the other people who are participating along with them.

Why? As long as it is allowed there is no issue at all. Honestly, what do you think people should consider? You speak of danger and hurt. Just odd. Perhaps you should consider the judgements and motives you are attributing to others.

Again, I do not get your point. What judgments and motives do you think I am attributing to others? On what basis do you attribute those attributions to me?

I don’t know but you seem to be dancing around something you want to say. If I’m wrong then we can just let it be.

For nearly 2000 years God’s church has stood. In spite of the machinations of men.

Until one day someone knelt before the blessed sacrament.

Then chaos insued. Riots, wars, famine, planets falling from orbit.

There is just no telling the horrors to be unleashed with this act.

This topic has come up a lot over the years here and I can remember some people saying that their priest preferred that they be last in line if kneeling, to avoid the collisions that Albert alluded to.
Just reiterating this, because I’m amazed at the number of people who seem to think the tripping danger is non-existent, despite multiple examples given. But, you guys know better than priests do, I guess.

Just when I find myself leaning more and more towards the more traditionalist positions within the Church, the proponents act like jerks and push me away.

I’m bowing out of (muting) this thread.

It seems to me that some try to overcomplicate kneeling for The Blessed Sacrament, so that most people won’t do it. Of course you may choose to take a step forward before kneeling, but I have personally never needed to do much more.

If all of the children in my catechesis group knelt for the reception of Holy Communion then I would have been way too proud.

. Does anyone have any advice?
My advice is to follow the practice of the church you are in .

But if the Eucharist is received kneeling straight from a standing position with no support I would have problems . I would probably fall over as I attempted to get up . Plus I would always have an anxiety about falling over .

If there are altar rails I would have no problem , the rails would steady me .

If you have enough experience and pay attention you’ll find people are doing all sorts of things different from others at Mass. So while I certainly understand not wanting to be the odd one I don’t think you should focus on that.

I mostly stand to receive communion is not distributed from a rail but I have on occasion knelt. I just do so in a manner that doesn’t get into others space. I’d recommend not feeling hurried. If others think you are taking too long the problem is with them.

I also caution against receiving from the Chalice while kneeling. It is quite easy to spill a drop when passing the Chalice from a standing person to a kneeling person and back.

Kneel. I kneel. That is Jesus we’re about to receive. We ALWAYS kneel before Jesus. He is Lord. Jesus Christ is Lord.
