As the person behind you, deep in prayer, however, may I suggest that there is value (and charity) in stepping a little to the side rather than directly in front of the priest when you kneel, if kneeling is not the norm in the particular parish you are attending. The priest – who is actually looking at you – will recover more quickly than I may. And my lack of recovery may be a problem as I trip and fall on my face . . .
I would also request you question WHY you wish to kneel when it is not the norm, as opposed to “when in Rome do as the Romans do.” While I am deeply respectful of those who kneel in adoration and humility when they receive Our Lord – in any circumstances – I fear I have also known more than a few who are more in the “LOOK AT ME!! DO WHAT I’M DOING!!!” mode.
Personally, my act of humility is to do what the others are doing . . .as long as what they are doing is respectful and in line with the teachings of the Church.
