I don’t kneel for prayer, except for at Mass as we usually do but I have to sit back up usually before the priest starts distributing the Eucharist because I get bad knee pains… this is why I don’t kneel at home but is this ok?

It’s fine. 🙂 Don’t allow yourself to become scrupulous over such practices. God doesn’t care how we pray in private prayer, as long as we pray. Sitting to pray is perfectly fine. If we are distracted by pain/discomfort we won’t be able to keep our minds on prayer but will be thinking about whatever is bothering our bodies. We can pray while driving, while walking, while riding a bike or doing housework, etc. Prayers is always good no matter how or where it is offered. Liturgical prayer, as in the Mass, has prescribed postures we are to use but even there, if it’s too painful to kneel, you are not obligated to do so. Sit if you feel pain when you kneel. God understands our physical limitations. You’re not doing anything wrong. 👍

Informative essay on the prayer postures of important figures in the Bible, it’s all good.

I would point out that although this the material found in the linked Protestant website looks okay, it doesn’t address Catholic prayer practice, such as the differences between public, liturgical prayer and private prayer for Catholics believers. It contains one person’s interpretation of prayer postures, not what is prescribed for Catholic worship and private prayer. 🙂

You’re fine.
Pray for my knees, and I’ll pray for yours! LOL 🙂

Standing is a very ancient way of Christian Prayer! (One may sit too of course…or walk etc etc)

I’ve had surgery on both knees. At Mass, I half kneel. I usually pray my daily prayers in a chair & my Rosary in bed before I go to sleep. I don’t really think God minds whether I’m kneeling or not.

No one is bound to the impossible.

If it isn’t OK, I’m in real trouble! My knee pain is off & on, so sometimes I can kneel & other times I can’t. When my back was in really bad shape I couldn’t kneel at all & could stand for only short periods of time, so I sat a lot at Mass. Tho there were times I really needed to lie down. I didn’t - but I did have to leave the church sometimes.

I have gotten to be too old to be able to kneel at mass. Though I would like to.
And so I don’t, and don’t worry about it at all.

I don’t find kneeling all that comfortable either, and I’m not elderly or aching yet. Not to say I won’t ever be. You’re perfectly fine.

I can’t kneel at mass at all … I have arthritis and tendonitis on my knees … we can only do what we can do. Sometimes I can’t even stand because of back issues … I figure God knows even better than I what is going on.

I have bad knees from and I’m only 26! I just hope people understand and don’t think I’m lazy for not kneeling

Oh I can kneel, and I can sit. but getting up is a different matter altogether. Last time I knelt, when I was still attending mass, I had to stay there until they had all gone home… Too embarrassing else

What a lot of old, creaky critters we are! Let our souls kneel!

👍

One of my favorite prayers is the Prayer to Jesus Christ Crucified. It starts out: “My good and dear Jesus, I kneel before you…” Half the time I am, of necessity, sitting, so at this point I add “in my heart.”

Please say a prayer for me & my painful knees if you think about it. Just had x-rays yesterday to see if a cause for the pain can be found.

And I’ll pray for all the rest of the “old, creaky critters” here! 😃
