Kneeling while receiving Communion

OK.

The GIRM isn’t held to the same standard as the Catechism, because it can change and the norms established can vary(according to Church Laws) according to the local conferences of Bishops.

The teachings in the Catechism can not be changed by a conference of Bishops, but only by a council of Bishops along with the Pope.

Hence, the USCCB has established that kneeling while receiving is the norm in the United States. A person who presents themselves for reception of Holy Communion can not be refused if they decide to kneel.

However, they should receive pastoral instruction on the norms.

Ok now I am confused…yesterday you said Standing in the Norm, now you are saying Kneeling is the Norm…then you stated that the Bishops would not set Norms against the Holy Spirit, yet they can be changed. If Norms are Holy Spirit led, then why would they be subject to change, Holy Spirit says Stand today then says kneel tomorrow???

It was my dream to recieve kneeling OTT,
However there is nothing to hold onto so I would not be able to get back up wihtout help
There is one in our parrish that does that and to me it seems humble, holy and right.

Are they some how deficient in their duties as shepherds of Christ Church?

I receive communion on the tongue kneeling from my bishop as often as possible (which is pretty often). He has no issues with it whatsoever. He appears more than pleased with my decision to not stand.

The GIRM is a guideline which the Bishops of the world follow.

However, each particular conference can adjust certain norms according to canon law.

Why the USCCB’s established standing as the norm for receiving Holy Communion?

I have no idea, but I’m sure it was prayed on and thought out before they made the decision.

Maybe stand for Holy Communion as everyone else is doing, and after Mass go and kneel before the tabernacle for prayer and adoration. Being humble and contrite inside is really the most important and reverent things about our faith.

No, maybe NOT. If she wants to kneel for communion, she should be able to kneel and no one should stop her from doing so.

If you are going to kneel, I would advise you to be last in line so no one will trip over you when you kneel.

How about NO. I sit in the very first pew and I am the FIRST to receive ON MY KNEES! I am not going to sit in the back of the church just because I want to receive my Lord on my knees. How dare anyone tell a person to sit in the back if she wants to receive on her knees. I always sit in the front because I want to see Jesus as He is elevated. Our eyes are consecrated every time we see Jesus in the Eucharist. So I am not going to sit in the back and be distracted by all the people in front of me.

You could sit in the front row and kneel at your pew. Then, before Communion is concluded, the priest can administer to you kneeling and on the tongue. Just ask your priest if he will accommodate you. I’ve seen this done at my parish.

Sure, she can sit in the very first pew but she shouldn’t have to stay at her pew. I do that and I go to the Priest, get on both my knees, and receive on the tongue. There is nothing wrong with that and the priest cannot stop you.

I would like to suggest to you that you take the opportunity to discuss your feelings with some of your friends within your small parish and tell them what you would like to do. You may be surprised, or not, at the amount of support you will receive. Of course you do not need people’s approval to do what God is calling you to do, but you may get some interesting, useful feedback.

Why? There is no need for her to talk to anyone. She could do what she wants especially when it comes to her getting on her knees for her Lord!

I always thought it was beautiful whenever I’d see someone kneel when they went up to receive Communion, but our parish priest made an announcement one time asking people not to do that. Unfortunately, the few who did do it no longer attend our parish.

They cannot do that. Those few who knelt could’ve gone to that priest and explained to him that he cannot stop them from receiving on their knees. If I was one of those people, I would’ve spoken to that priest. And if he still refused to hear me out, I would’ve left just as those people left. I don’t blame them at all.
