I am very interested in the medieval time period. Also with the code of conduct a knight lives with. So I was wondering if Bishops still knighted people. Since either a Bishop or King can knight and us people in America don’t come across Kings very often.
So can I still get a Bishop to knight me?

You could just join the Knights of Columbus as they are a society of good Catholic gentlemen.

Otherwise, I’m not sure under what order or cause the bishop would have to knight you under. Even if they still did that kind of thing, I don’t think they would do it just because you thought you deserved it.

The Sovereign Military Order of Malta (Knights of Malta) and the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre are both orders of knighthood that are given to Americans, and both tied to the Holy See. I believe you can apply for membership in each, but there are various requirements. Go on the websites of each. A knight who does not belong to an order is a “knight bachelor”. The Queen awards these at New Years and on her birthday, but you have to be British. I do not believe that the Holy See gives out knighthoods like that, and I do not believe a Bishop has the authority.

I live in America and I cross paths with Kings all the time. The phone book is full of them.
