Knights of Columbus and the SSPX

In your opinion: can a Traditional Catholic who attends Mass regularly at an SSPX chapel, remain a member of the Knights of Columbus at another church, where he does not attend Mass?

There is a question on the KofC “Form 100” enrollment form, where it asks “Are you a practical Catholic in communion with the Holy See?” While I certainly feel that I am, the KofC may feel differently, hence my question.
 
The Knights have to expect that those of their membership who assist at SSPX chapels consider themselves to be practicing Catholics in communion with Rome. If they want to be more rigorous in their screening process, they need to narrow the questions.
 
Call the contact person at your local parish and ask. Since KofC is basically a parish-based organization (most of the groups efforts go into local, parish events and service to the parish community), I don’t see why you would want to join if you don’t attend that parish. If you are simply interested in the insurance aspect, I believe you can purchase a plan with them without being a KofC member.
 
Thank you both for your responses. I think my interest was mainly to keep my KofC membership active, rather than letting it fall by the wayside. 👍 I’ve been a Knight for several years now, but in an Eastern Catholic church that I no longer attend.
 
I know of no particular pronouncements from the Order on this question.

As a courtesy, I would advise perhaps you bring the question up privately with your council’s chaplain, and abide by his judgment.

PS. :twocents: My hunch is that you remain a practical Catholic, all other things being equal.

I don’t know of any particular ruling from the Order regarding attendance at SSPX Masses. I do know that insurance is restricted to the membership and immediate family members of members i.e. wife and children. The parish will likely not know the answer. K of C councils are not always parish based, but they are all independent of the parish. You should probably call the Grand Knight of your council and ask him what his thoughts are about this issue.
