No, it isn’t, at least not completely. The decision is made at New Haven. They are supposed to follow rules that the organization made. Maybe they did approve my application. Maybe someone at my council did things their own way, despite the application. I don’t know. As I mentioned in my first post in this thread, I emailed the GK several times, and didn’t even get the courtesy of a reply of any kind from him after submitting the app, which he did send to me after I emailed him in response to his comments in the monthly newsletter. I spoke on the phone to the person that became the current GK, and was in touch with another Knight about it that I see often at mass and retreat. They didn’t get back to me about it. I contacted the FS by mail.
I’m sorry to hear that. I’d like to think that the Knights I know would have pulled together and done something to help a brother out.
You made a comparison. I thought, "Hey, there probably are some people that know what “Rosebud” means. Your comparison to “Rosebud” might be appropriate if there’s a lot of people that know what “Rosebud” means before seeing the movie. I guess CCDTeacher takes oaths more seriously than some people.
I have another thought. You could probably do a web-search and find out what “Rosebud” means. Let me do a web-search about the ceremonies. By jove! There’s the entire text of the first degree ceremony, and I only spent one minute!
I don’t doubt you could get the info online, knowing the way the internet is. If a candidate did, it’d be exactly like googling Rosebud. He’d walk into the ceremony and although it might still be interesting, it wouldn’t be nearly as memorable.

Keep thinking. I thought about it for decades. What is accomplished here? Maybe I’m not too surprised that they will do virtually nothing for me. I wondered for decades what they did for fellow Knights. I thought really hard about it after I got out of the hospital in 2006. I thought about the Knights, my family, each and every friend. I thought about every decision I made in life.

I realize that Teach is thinking about the secrecy, but I’m giving him something extra to help the decision, because you know the Chaplain will simply tell him that Rome knows what goes on at ceremonies, and has certainly not condemned it like Freemasonry.

Not to mention the possibly mortal sin involved in breaking an oath, but it’s been done.

I’m wondering how you came to the conclusion that what goes on in the ceremony is “silly”? How do you know this as a woman? Hmmm… Has me thinking…
How did I know you would zero in on that one word out of everything else I wrote? 😉 What I mean is that it may seem a bit overblown/overly dramatic from a woman’s perspective. I gather this from the 4th Degree initiation and the KC installation rites I’ve seen. For the men it’s no doubt quite meaningful, but for a woman maybe not so much.
Anyhow, I’m just going to let this thread die out on its own unless you can close it. I don’t know how to have a thread closed but I think that it’s time… Thank you and God bless… teachccd 🙂
Threads do take on a life of their own. It will peter out at some point–it all depends on how much interest it can continue to generate without the OP’s (name removed by moderator)ut. We’ll see. 🍿

Della, these comments were to Jean Anthony the moderator unless you are one and the same… I’m confused but I am gone… bye bye thread… RIP!!

What did I mention? The secrecy is public knowledge as is everything that I mentioned. Just google what I said and it’s all there. I did not go into any specifics. Are you telling me that I cannot serve God outside of their organization? Now that is a bag of goods. I NEVER doubted the good that the Knights do. Your opening statement is what bothers me. It’s not for my wife to care about anyway? That is what a wedding vow is all about? Secrets? Is that how the Knights view their wives? You said most brothers have no problem with this but this one does. I can help out charities in many other ways as I have done for many years. I am not a priest and I have been serving God. You have not addressed my question as to why we cannot share this with the very person that we became one with in the sacrament of matrimony. I am not going to argue my point with those here who refuse to address my question. Thank you and your comment of my mentioning anything whatsoever about any degree substantiates the concern that I have here. And I did not mention anything about the 1st degree and if I did please copy and paste it in a reply…

I will need to respond to you in private because I actually take the oath with pride.

I got your PM and I responded to you in a way that indicates that I take an oath with pride when it is indeed something that is not already public knowledge. The “secrets” of the ceremonies are discussed in numerous places on the web. So to undermine my integrity because I mentioned something that anyone can find anywhere is absurd and unsubstantiated. I take pride in the oath as well as is indicated in this entire thread. If I didn’t then there would be no need for concern, now would there… teachccd

Okay, first of all, any member is free to respond within threads, secondly the mods don’t usually read every post within a thread (they simply don’t have the time), and since this thread has been moved to SJ from L&S, Jean Anthony is no longer the mod. You should PM Robert Bay if you want the mod for this forum to take any kind of action. Now, this really is good-bye, adios, au revoir, and bonne chance, mon ami. 🙂

Would it have been so hard to say “oops, my mistake”?
