OK, what does ‘flagelate’ mean or should I ask that first before I say you didn’t do well enough? Or have I just spent too much time at baptist.org and now I accuse Catholics of wrong doing before I know what I’m talking about?:confused:
 
I chose “evil,” because that is what my research suggested.

I wouldn’t mind seeing a decision of the papacy recreating the order, however. It might end the Reformation, and they may soon be needed again against Islam.

Knights templars were very good, but they were destroyed by their sucess, the envidious people is very evil. In Spain, the knights were transferred to other orders and continue protecting us against islam. We removed muslims in 1492, from Spain. Greetings

no that claim was made by the freemasons, whose founder totally invented their spurious origins by claiming some tie to the templars and their last leader Jacques DeMolay. there is a recent thread which gives the particulars. search for freemasons and find out more than you ever wanted to know about this topic.

Flagellation is whipping someone. Self-whipping used to be practiced by (I don’t know who) because they believed they needed physical punishment to atone for their sins. I think the official church policy on it is, “That’s a bad idea.”

The Knights were founded after the capture of jerusalem, to protect the Holy Land, and pilgrims. They were a military-religious order. They built huge castles to protect the Holy Land from muslim attack, and occupied the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, which became their headquarters.

Because of their work, they were given lots of money and lands in Europe. They became a very rich order. Others accused them of laxness, because they reputedly studied the lore and writings of muslims. They built circular churches to resemble the shrine on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. Rumours spread that their leaders had become involved in arcane activities. (This became the source for a lot of the rubbish written about them today in the Da Vinci Code and elsewhere.)

Defeated at the Battle of Hattin, the knights were driven out of the Holy Land with the rest of the crusaders. Failing to return to the Holy Land, they were seen by many as having lost their purpose, and being a dangerous armed force sitting on huge piles of wealth, particularly in France. King Philip of France wanted that wealth and organised a conspiracy against them. He (not the Pope - as in the DV Code) had the leaders of the order arrested on the same day and tortured.

The Pope disagreed with this and tried to get them released, It took Philip several years to get the Pope to agree to a condemnation based on what are believed to be trumped up charges of heresy and sorcery.

Seems odd of a “secret society” eh? Maybe you just know what they want you to know. Why don’t you check out how many presidents were masons…coincidence perhaps?
