I would love to see a film that had metaphysics as one of its themes!šŸ™‚
 
I will start it off

Death Note; is a Japanese anime series, that is just spectacular.

It deals with the philosophical and moral implications of what you would do if you had the power of killing somebody by just writing their name in a book.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

A story centered around two brothers who try to resurrect their mother, and pay a heavy price for it. Its primary focus is ā€œEquivalent Exchange,ā€ which basically says everything comes with a price.

It is probably one of the best animes in recent years.
 
Ghost In The Shell.
Its an animated movie, and there was a sequel also.
It was made into a series afterwards, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. There were two seasons.
One of my favourite Japanese anime, Sci-fi, with a good philosophical bent as well:thumbsup:

Not an anime, but a Japanese movie none the less, and one of the best films ever made:

Ikiru (To Live) by Akira Kurosawa

Itā€™s about making meaning out of a ā€œuselessā€ life, and how true purpose comes from go out of yourself and helping others. It also faces the issue of perspective, and how even our best actions can be misunderstood by those closest to us.

Itā€™s the story of a mid-level local government official who discovers that heā€™s dying of stomach cancer and has less than a year to live. His whole life has merely been shuffling papers, and he doesnā€™t want to die without having truly lived. The first half of the film deals with his search for meaning, the second half takes place at his ā€œwakeā€ where people try to figure out the mystery of the last six months of his life (in Japan at the time people were not told if they had cancer, so people assumed that he didnā€™t know he was dying). Beautiful movie with some of the most powerful scenes ever put on film.

Surprise, surprise! The Russians have a similar computer. Colossus communicates with the Russian computer andā€¦ :eek:

Yes, I am planning to delve more deeply into the ghost in the shell series. Have you watched Death Note yet?

I want to watch this, but people keep saying its not as good as the original. In fact they keep saying its poor re-run.

Is that the anime or the movie you are talking about? Because the live action movie was poor at best. In fact is was embarrassing to watch.
