Knowing, but not quite yet doing

I am more and more falling into the position of complete awareness of The Word; but I look back on the desirable things of life completely knowing they are ruinous, still I haven’t managed to free myself from them. I also am aware that I will, from now on, be plunged into personal despair if I don’t make the steps into the Christian life.
 
Praying for you. This society takes alot out of us in many ways. It tends to demand our souls in many ways. Look toward God and remember we are in the world not of the world.

I came back to the Church a little over two years ago and I think I can relate to what you feel like. I believe, but more often than not I fail to live what I believe. Despite my failures I’m always amazed when I realize that no matter what happens I never turn my back completely on God - I always pick myself up and get back on the horse. I don’t believe I do this on my own. God saves me and brings me back to full communion with the Church through the sacraments. You’re one of Jesus’ sheep; He will always find you and bring you back to the flock.
 
May I recommend a book by St.Francis DE Sales called an Introduction to the Devout Life. In this book he talks about leading a Godly life in everyday situations. It has been an inspiration to me! Remember you are not perfect and the best we can do is try not to make the same mistakes over and over again. I sin on a daily basis it is not on purpose mind you it just happens! You are taking the first step just realizing you think in this way, you just need to catch yourself doing it,ask for forgiveness and sooner or later you will get a handle on it. It is a lifetime of work.
P.S. A upside (or downside) to getting books like this is since they are not on the best sellers list they are cheap to buy.
