The Catholic Church is under oppression in the land of the free. And the faithful will accept it and be grateful when the government says how as when it can worship.

If this is true, it would be a reasonable act of civil disobedience to ignore this. Such a law would not be constitutional, I am certain. Restriction for public health in a religious context must be absolutely necessary, and even across the board. Knox County could not allow some religions, and ban others.

I am glad my state bypassed the whole religion thing in most orders. Yet here, there was not one case I have read about where callous disregard of safety has occurred.

Legally, that’s moot under the governor’s order. Not just for Catholics, for all churches. The governor specifically ordered that local officials can’t regulate places of worship. (The governor knows, probably better than the average rather dimwitted local official, that a constitutional lawsuit would likely erupt if the government tried to tell churches stuff like “no Communion”.) I would note that the source you posted is not exactly un-biased and not very reliable in its coverage of this story. I would further suggest that if you’re not from USA you might want to be careful about what sources you pick to post because a lot of the US so-called “media” is unreliable.

The Roman Catholic Diocese in that area is planning to resume public Mass on May 30-31. I presume when they resume it they will be distributing Holy Communion as usual.

This is ONE county, and it won’t stand up if someone challenges it in court. One dumb county official is hardly “oppression in the land of the free.”

It isn’t one. It’s all. The government has forbidden the gathering of people for their faith. Period. Explain it away all you want. People go around saying government can’t do this or that. And yet they do. The government does what it gets away with. This America is not governed by the constitution or the principles of liberty or freedom. It is governed by the powerful over the drugged and placated.
