Kolkata filmmaker traces Christ’s ‘India trail’

“According to Hindu, Buddhist and Islamic scriptures and beliefs,
Christ visited India during the period of his missing years in the
Bible and stayed in the country for 14 years.

“His Christianity was influenced by Hinduism as we find that the New
Testament of the Bible was more akin to Hinduism than Judaism.

“In Bhavishya Maha Puran, a text dating back to the second century
AD, there are references of Christ’s interaction with King
Shalivahan, the grandson of Vikramaditya, in Kashmir.

“Scholars say it happened after Christ’s resurrection, ” said Mitra.

He also noted that there were different isolated pockets that
corroborated the “alternative theory” about Christ.

This alternative theory was strengthened after some scrolls (dating
back to between 200 BC and 100 AD) were discovered in 1947 in a group
of caves near Khirbat Qumran in Jordan at the northwestern end of the
Dead Sea.

Two years before that, in 1945, some scrolls dating back to 350 AD
were found tucked into a large jar at Nag Hammadi village in upper
Egypt.

Mitra’s film, produced by Atanu Roy of Sweet Melody, seeks to unearth
the truth through the discourses of an archaeologist (played by
Soumitra Chatterjee) and a novelist (Aparna Sen).

“We have shot in Ladakh, Kashmir, the Silk Route, Kerala, Varanasi
and Puri for the film - following the trail of Christ,” said Mitra.

“There are many documents in the vault of the Vatican and the church
doesn’t publish them because they obviously want to project Christ as
a god and not as a human.

“Assimilation of all such stories raises the question why there was
no proper research on the alternative theory about Christ,” said
Mitra.

During the first century, Thomas the Apostle went to India. He planted a Christian Community there.

Now, I know how things work. Some non-Christians adopted Christian imagry into their mythos. However, this is not proof that the mythos is real.

Besides, no one has given us the names of those who went with Christ.

I can already guess the film will be terrible. There is no historical evidence of Christ going to India, because He never went there. But one of the apostles went there and he preached the gospel.

Lets think about this for a moment “scholars say it happened after Christs resurrection”

As Christs resurrection itself we have no solid proof its a matter of faith. So why would we take on something else where there is nothing to go on with the exception of some ancient stories and no way to realy verify them?

The mormons believe Jesus vistsed the Americas also. There is a multitude of stories and beliefs even from the early times of christianity refering back to the gnostics however the gnostics atleast had some sort of original parchments that were the foundation of thier beliefs. Personally I think they were way off point but that could be a whole other post.

John wrote there is more much more but didnt elaborate this means to me maybe some of these stories could be real however I think our church fathers did a great job of weeding through the parchments.

I believe the early church fathers took all the gospels that were close enough to tell one true story.The gospels that paralelled. In this way you get closer to the truth and it keeps everyone on the same page.

We just cant go chassing wild geese every time an ancient parchment shows up that may lead to something heretical as most do.

For example if I write a story and then 2000 years later someone digs it out of the ground it would be rather silly to take it at face value after all my name (as of yet lol) does not exist in history as a great writer or anyone of any logical consequence for anything to be considerd historical facts of our time.

When you have to go on faith I would say proceed with caution while reading any materials that fall outside the churches teachings.

Remember our church has had 2000 years of study and has had at one time or another original parchments and codexes from antiquity. Heck even the king james scholars didnt have privy to original parchments or any codexes from the vatican when they reproduced thier version of the bible.

No the church doesnt have all the answers that much I am sure of.

Anything interesting that is found should be looked at and digested with a grain of salt because who really knows its all conjecture.

Personally I trust in what the church teaches and the rest Ill find out when I die.😉

there is no such verse in holy Quran. Prophet Muhammed (p) said many things about some Prophets (pbut). He did not mention about the visit of Jesus (p) in India.

I wonder , how come one can say that -According to …Islamic scriptures and beliefs, Christ visited India ?

I am glad you have finally realized the errors of paarsurrey and planten’s religion. You have agreed with them on many things, but becareful of their true intentions and theology. I may be Catholic, but i would never serve you pork - if you catch my drift.

In Islam we don’t talk in terms of minority or majority; we talk of truth and we remain on truth. Do you think Jesus was in minority in Judea?Since Jesus was on truth , he never cared for or thought in terms of minority and majority. The same is he in his Second Coming 1835-1908, in my opinion.

I love Jesus and Mary as I do love Buddha and Krishna.

I repeat the full passage from the above site hereunder:

It would be therefore more apropriate to contact them on the above webiste for Hindu, Buddhist and Islamic scriptures and beliefs, for Christ visiting India. Maybe they come up with things one never knows and from neutral sources.

As for me I shall be giving them as mentioned by **Second Coming 1835-1908 ** in “Jesus in India”: alislam.org/library/books/jesus-in-india/index.html

This would be interesting. I created a thread for the Ahmadi’s to back up their claims on Jesus’ burial site.
