Apart from anything to do with dogs, what your post explains is that the hadiths and koran have contradictions.

When that happens the koran is right and the hadiths are wrong.

I have never read the koran, but am interested to know whether or not there are also contradictions in the koran.

I know CAF member grandfather wanted to discuss this, but I’m also interested in a discussion as well.

Thanks much & welcome to CAF

Hey bud,

Thanks for the welcome.

Yes, there are things that appear to contradict in the Quran. Muslims generally respond to these contradictions by basically saying “Yes, they contradict but it can be explained through context.”

So for example, there are injunctions in the Quran that specifically talk about killing the infidel wherever you find him. There are also injunctions that tell you to make peace and forgive your enemies. Most Muslims explain this stuff away by saying that there are contextual reasons for why God at one point asked us to kill our enemies and in the other asked us to forgive.

Muslims prefer this system because it reflects the flexibility of life. Circumstances modify rules. Adherence strictly to the rule would make an inflexible system and one that doesn’t function in practice.

The funny part about all this is that fundamentalist Muslims seem to have forgotten the innate flexibility of the rules based on circumstances… and thus we have the lovely Taliban…

Could it be because there is no seperation from the Mecca “revelations” to the Medina “revelations”… and they are all jumbled up and mixed in together.

It has been said and posted many times on here that as Mohamad was small in numbers he preached peace… etc… in Mecca… but as his followers grew in size and went to Medina that’s when it all got violent and he became a war hungry warlord.

BTW:

You can call me “bud” but I’m a she and Pam is my name… 😃

Also, one question for you. You did not list your religion in your profile. Are you Sunni, Shia, Ahmadi or Quran only muslim…? Just curious…

Best regards…

There are lots of contradictions…

There where Muslims invented the “abrogation” concept to overcome those contradictions…
"It is a term used in Islamic legal exegesis for seemingly contradictory material within or between the twin bases of Islamic holy law: the Qur’ān and the Prophetic Sunna.", Link.
