Hello, I’m a new member here! There are a lot of claims that Jesus was a copy of other pagan deities, and in particular Krishna - is the true that he also performed miracles? Is it also true that Krishna raised the dead?

No it is not true.

Please provide more information and we will be able to better answer your question.

did who perform miracles? Jesus performed miracles because He is God. There is no such entity as Krishna, who is a fictional god from legend of a particular religion. Jesus is true God and true Man and owes nothing to any synthetic false religion. I am doing you the favor of assuming your question is not facetious. “I read or I heard something someplace” is not a source. On this forum the correct procedure is to give the cite and link for the claim you wish to refute or discuss.

It’s not facetious I promise you, but there is so much stuff going around on the internet, sometimes it is hard to know what to believe

Cool, that looks good I might read it too. Sorry if I came off as harsh I forgot to say welcome to CAF, hope you’ll stick around!

God bless

If we seem a little short with you, it’s because we go through this a lot around here. Some “copycat” theory or another makes the rounds a few times a week. We point out the many, many reasons not to buy the stories of Our Lord’s being a “retelling” or what-have-you of some other person or character, the thread sinks, and another asking the same question appears. You didn’t know. Feel free to search the topic and keep asking.🙂

Hi, I think it comes from the film zeitgeist!
Zeitgeist is not a scholarly source. It is full of fabricated claims and bent truths.

For example, it claims that the story of Jesus Christ is a re-telling of the story of Joseph son of Jacob / Israel. Zeitgeist claims that Joseph had 12 brothers from which the Gospel writers got the idea to give Jesus 12 apostles. Actually, Joseph had 11 brothers and 1 sister. Moreover, Jesus’ choice to have 12 apostles was actually based on the fact that Jacob / Israel had 12 sons, from which the 12 tribes of Israel came. In the same way, the New Israel (the Church) has come from the 12 apostles through apostolic succession.

For each claim of Zeitgeist, try to cross-reference it with a scholarly work on mythology. You will find that most of the claims are unfounded. Another example: Zeitgeist claims that Mithras was born of a Virgin in a stable (or something along these lines). This is incorrect: Mithras was born from a rock as a fully developed adult. Last example: Zeitgeist gives a list of 1st century historians and claims that none of them mentioned Jesus Christ in their works. This is false: Google a couple of those historians’ names with “and Jesus Christ” and you will find that some of them wrote about him.

Yeah, there’s a lot of junk on the internet. That’s because anyone can post anything they want. Go to the library if you want to study comparative mythology or religion. With books and other scholarly works, there is a system in place that prevents deceptive works like Zeitgeist from being published (although some junk makes it into the library too).
