Not knowing what kundalini awakening is all about, I hesitated to comment one way or another. As far as Catholic contemplative prayer is concerned, we are safe from delusion and deception if we embrace the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ, are empowered by the Holy Spirit of God, and submit our wills to our Heavenly Father…all in conformity with the mystical doctors of the Catholic church.

Some of the crucial elements to Catholic contemplative prayer are humility, denial of self for the sake of Jesus Christ, and faith in the one true God. It seems to me that the purpose of contemplative prayer is to bring us in closer union with God so that we become
true disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ. The purpose of such prayer is not some sort of ‘spiritual experience’.

God’s peace.

In spite of your low and uninformed opinion about what kundalini actually is, you will have to experience it in order to get to heaven, because when the soul is summoned back home that is the avenue it has to take.
There is no avenue on the way to heaven…

Kundalini does not exist. Chakras do not exist. Hinduism is a false religion. There is only one path to heaven and it does not include Kundalini Avenue.

Sure there is. The soul has to leave the body to get to heaven; kundalini is just the mechanism whereby this is accomplished. Call it Grace Way or call it Coming Home to Bliss Blvd. or Kundalini Avenue - it has nothing to do with Hinduism and is universal to all persons.

It has everything to do with Hinduism and nothing at all to do with grace.
Mary,the blessed mother is the mediatrix of grace.She is the pure vessel God choose to bear the New Covenant.

Kundalini is said to be a feminine power which can erupt and wreak havoc in a persons body and psyche.It is called shakti or kali meaning lord of death or black one.

When our paths are up our souls depart.It is the will of God not the influence of a demon

.The kabbalistic tree of life,chakras and all the rest are a very powerful delusion attacking the church with a vengeance.

There have been many religious leaders across the world and throughout time. All are free to follow anyone or none of them.

There is only one who died and rose from the dead. I am going to follow *that *guy. He told us exactly how to get to heaven. He never even mentioned having a kundalini awakening.

He never even mentioned having a kundalini awakening.
Indeed. That is why it isn’t in Public Revelation; it is so basic to human creation that it is not within the realm of human free will, or required to be believed. Neither does Public Revelation mention that people have to breathe air or drink water in order to live, or how they are to accomplish those things. How the soul resides in the body and how it reaches heaven is entirely the purview of God.

Here is a definition of kundalini:
kun·da·li·ni/ˌko͝ondlˈēnē/
Noun:
Code:
(in yoga) Latent female energy believed to lie coiled at the base of the spine.
A system of meditation directed toward the release of such energy.
Are we talking about the same thing? This kundalini does not exist and is contrary to Christian thought.

Are we talking about the same thing? This kundalini does not exist . . .
Sure it does. You can’t p(name removed by moderator)oint where the soul resides in the body, as it, too, is latent. I use the term to reference the actual movements of the soul on his way to heaven without any of the ancillary associations which others might have about it.

Forum: Just what is kundalini energy?

Philip St. Romaine: “It is easier to say what it is not than what it is. Quite frankly, I don’t know what it is.”

   How inspiring and informed your leader is! Lets put eternity on the line and follow him. You have Centering Prayer and are calling it Comtemplative Prayer.

So, then this process occurs after death?

You make, then, the “movements of the soul” a natural result not a result of supernatural grace which may or may not be given; the soul doesn’t necessarily “move” to heaven, you know.

The process occurs at any time, but certainly at death. When you love Jesus then you are experiencing kundalini. When you are speaking prophesy then you are experiencing kundalini. When you have an exhilerating dream that you are free-falling then you are experiencing kundalini. When the saints describe states of ecstasy they were experiencing kundalini. When anyone receives a summons and are to get to heaven and see God then their soul is brought there by the process of kundalini.

The world is like a magnet, holding the soul down as it were. When the big magnet of God comes then the polarity easily changes, and the soul rises.

Yes, the movements of the soul during life are entirely the purview of God’s grace.

For St.John of the Cross, there is no union with God without denying oneself, taking up one’s cross daily and following Jesus Christ.

This is just a small slice of his advice for entering into this spiritual journey toward union with God:

**6. Strive always to prefer, not that which is easiest, but that which is most difficult;

Not that which is most delectable, but that which is most unpleasing;

Not that which gives most pleasure, but rather that which gives least;

Not that which is restful, but that which is wearisome;

Not that which is consolation, but rather that which is disconsolateness;

Not that which is greatest, but that which is least;

Not that which is loftiest and most precious, but that which is lowest and most despised;

Not that which is a desire for anything, but that which is a desire for nothing;

Strive to go about seeking not the best of temporal things, but the worst.

Strive thus to desire to enter into complete detachment and emptiness and poverty, with respect to everything that is in the world, for Christ’s sake**

(Ascent of Mount Carmel, Book I, Chap. 13.)

“Spiritual awakening” can mean different things to different sorts of contemplatives. For St. John of the Cross ‘spiritual experiences’ are usually either childish,(‘when I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as child, but when I became a man I put away childish things’), or delusional, or deceptions of the devil.

For St.John of the Cross, there is no union with God without denying oneself, taking up one’s cross daily and following Jesus Christ.

No one can actually do these things for the sake of Jesus Christ without the Spirit of God, but one must be willing to choose these detachments from egotistical and selfish desires in order to enter one’s journey onto the narrow road. If other forms of contemplation are achieving this entry onto the narrow road, then the assumption might be that they are of the Holy Spirit.
BUT!!! You only deny yourself of that which Jesus asks you to deny yourself. There is a trap of pride even in self-denial. The BEST and surest way to remain humble is to give Jesus whatever He wants NO MORE and NO LESS and sometimes it is His desire that we enjoy His gifts. And so often we deny Jesus the pleasure of pleasing us.

Mother Teresa says, “Give whatever He takes and take whatever He gives.”

Remember Jesus DOES want us to be happy. What husband enjoys his wife’s misery? What husband wants his wife to practice self-denial when he is trying to please her? Jesus is after all the husband.:love:

I have a very strong intuition that this whole thing has a demonic base as satan often masquerades as an angel of light.

the luciferic rebirth,the kabbalist mysticim and todd bentley charismatic movement all experience the same thing as kundalini shakti. Shakti is said to be a feminine power and if people try to equate this with the purity of the Blessed Mother,God help them. Mary will crush the head of this serpent.
Well, goodness, :angel1: I thought I’d heard just about everything, and now this:eek: and it’s only ten o’clock on Monday morning!. :frighten: Whatever this so called “awakening” may be, my preferred path is the teaching:highprayer: of our Holy Mother Church, the Magisterium and thousands of years of Catholic tradition. :gopray2:Trust your intuition cjforJesus. This sounds like a plethora of misguided concepts dressed up in the same old flashy “New Age” offerings.

Yes, you have a valid point regarding marriage. Self-denial must be in accordance with the will of God. The aforementioned are not requirements, they are attitudes of the heart that St. John of the Cross says will prepare us for our spiritual journey towards union with God. In addition, this is advice that he gave to the Carmelites, and to anyone else who desires to be a saint, (eventhough we are all called to be saints and disciples of Jesus Christ).

St.John of the Cross has much to say about vain joy. All the joys of this world can be an obstacle from knowing the joy of God, who is our true source of happiness.

God’s peace.

Thanks to all for your (name removed by moderator)ut and insight.

I think this new age deception of kundalini goddess is something to avoid.

I dont think contemplative prayer as described by St Teresa of Avila is even remotely similar,but as she said is a gift given to holy peolple with devout prayer lives.

May God bless you all.

Interview with Philip St. Romain R Note: This article promotes a false and distorted view of Christianity. The main falsehood is that Christ didn’t not found His Church with a means for His Apostles and Disciples to be in union with God. We have the Sacraments of course. Kundalini purports to be on the level of the Sacraments. What blatant blasphemy!

"Forum: Just what is kundalini energy?

  Kundalini is not contemplative prayer. It is a form of Centering Prayer which is a form of yoga meditation. Centering on self, to be specific. This is Coiled Serpent Energy and is associated with the bowels which are coiled near the base of the spine. Normally the contents of the bowels are expelled in the rear. Kundalini practitioners feel this rises upward to the brain, sprouts wings, and takes your soul to heaven, well practically. The association with the bowels is valid. I have take 2 years of comparative religions on the undergraduate and 1 year on the graduate level. This is not new material to me.
To practice Kundalini yoga is blasphemy against God. Yes, kundalini may manifest as a good feeling, some type of connectedness to the external environment and even in some cases astral projection. This thread is way to small to even name the occultic manifestations people have experienced or even desired in the pursuit of kundalini yoga. Of course these people who teach Kundalini will stress the importance of using kundalini powers for good and not bad purposes. And of course, this is the good Kundalini not the bad one etc. etc.

  To understand how this is offensive to God there is a 90 page article hosted on the Vatican website:
Jesus Christ The Bearer of the Water of Life - A Christian Refection on the New Age

What is a new phenomena is that this has entered the Sanctuary of God on earth: The Holy Catholic Church. For more on this please read Pope Paul VI’s Homily given on the Solemnity of Sts. Peter & Paul, June 29, 1972 at the Cathedral of Sts. Peter & Paul, Vatican, Rome. Here the Holy Father’s sermon centers on his dismay about what some are doing in the Church and their interpretation of VCII. He states “from some fissure the smoke of Satan has entered the Church.” However, his sermon ends with Great Hope, Trust, and Faith in God that the Church shall prevail!

Pope Paul VI’s famous homily where he states "the smoke of Satan has entered the sanctuary. Note: Use the Google Translator for those who can’t read Italian.

Kundalini practitioners all describe all of these pleasurable bodily sensations similar to the euphoria produced by various drugs. Particular emphasis is placed on the opening of the third eye, a region where the cerebral cortex is located. In cases of demonic possession, obsession, or influence in many varying degrees there is actually an evil spirit’s presence manifested in some part of the body. Each time a person practices Kundalini they cede a part of their will to evil.
Code:
Evil spirits normally are held back by many lines of defense God provides for His children. However when one opens themselves to demonic attack even if they mistake this for the Holy Spirit evil can enter and will enter if given the opportunity. The powerful force expressed in their entry once through sin the door has been legally opened (so to speak for a lack of a better turn) that no human can reckon with or expel alone. The Kundalini spirit is a demonic counterfeit of Holy Spirit. As a whole Kundalini is a demonic stronghold.

   Once the pleasurable experience of Kundalini goes sour, and it does, deliverance can be very painful. A great deal of penance as suffering is experienced. This of course can be and is mitigated by victim souls like St. Padre Pio who put on the mantle of pain of Cross with Jesus Christ. The shock of the realization of just how much an evil spirit has integrated itself into the personality and being of a person often means years of psychiatric therapy and recovery. Exorcism sometimes result in the death of an individual.
People who equate and define everything positive in Spiritual Life as having to do with Kundalini need professional help: either psychiatric or deliverance i.e. an exorcist priest. A chief factor of occultic witchcraft is manipulation of “energies” which are manifestations of demonic forces. This is a very old form of Satanic worship: witchcraft. Due to the obvious limitations of disscussion in this forum I am stopping. Note in the image below the coiled serpents at the base of Baphomet which represent the Kundalini Energy. I presume this image will be at the bottom of my post.

A moment in heaven is a much better education than a thousand years in graduate level studies.
