Surprised there isn’t a thread on this yet, as the movie has been out for three weekends.

As with the first two films in the series, the animation and music are fantastic, and Po is as lovable a Kung Fu fightin’ panda as ever.

But a word of caution … the “ancient Chinese mysticism” really comes to the forefront in this film, while it was more in the background in the first two films. This includes a depiction of the “spirit realm” that is definitely at odds with what we believe as Catholics. So if you are taking any young, impressionable kids with you to see this, be prepared to have a discussion with them. (I went by myself.)

Is it as funny as its trailers?

Went to it with my grandsons and was disappointed in th Eastern meditation and references.
If I’d known I wouldn’t have gone.

I’m interested to know more about the meeting of Po and his father, after thinking that he was already dead.
 
The movie is funny. I even cried for a second. I liked the movie, i wouldn’t be too worried about the other stuff, just enjoy the movie.

Well, I will preface this by saying that I rarely laugh out loud at movies, even at the best comedies.

That said, the scenes where Po frolics with the other pandas in the secret panda village are a lot of fun. 🙂

When he’s talking to the pandas preparing them to fight, when the little pandas begin to eat the props. Man I couldn’t stop laughing.
 
I saw it recently with my children. (I hadn’t seen 1 or 2)

I think a lot of the Eastern mysticism wasn’t something that they noticed. To them it was just a fantasy.

Since the older I get the more of a nerd I realize that I am, what bothered me was the way pandas were portrayed. Pandas are solitary creatures, they don’t live in hidden panda villages and they don’t eat dumplings. 🤓

Yeah, when our boys were little, we always told them in advance that what they see on TV or in the movies was make-believe.

Didn’t you just say that it was a fantasy? 😛 😃
