Why do we have this in Greek? When we have the Litany of the Saints in Latin we have this part in Greek and the rest in Latin. How did we end up with a tiny bit of Greek with the Latin?

Also what is Kyrie Eleison and Christe Eleison in Latin?

As to why the Greek Kyrie eleison/Chiriste eleison remain in the Mass, I don’t know, but I do know that the Greek language was in widespread use in the Roman Empire, especially in the eastern half. It was the language of trade.

Kyrie eleison, Christe eleison are “Domine, miserere”, “Christe, miserere” in Latin.
