The “fruits” of the political leftist “Defund the police” paradigm. (Attempting to bring order out of disorder.)

A couple years ago it was the left attempting to Defund the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement people.

You can see that here:

The list of Democrats calling to abolish ICE keeps growing World News
Progressive politicians in New York City and Washington, DC, are starting to follow the lead of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez by calling to abolish US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, more commonly known as ICE. Since Ocasio-Cortez’s stunning primary defeat of Democratic New York Rep. Joe Crowley on Tuesday night, more left-leaning politicians have adopted a main tenet of the 28-year-old democratic socialist Latina’s immigration platform: a call to abolish ICE. The end of the week saw two hig…
Now the leftists who (up until now anyway) could not defund ICE, are coming for the police departments with wealth redistribution schemes in the back of their minds in a wave of more disorder.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti vetoed a plan backed by black and Latino members of the City Council to redistribute money cut from the police Tuesday because he said it was too focused on everyday needs and not on the “call of history.”

The plan, which was originally passed 13-2, included funding to trim trees, improve parks, and repair sidewalks in poor neighborhoods. The mayor told the Los Angeles Times that the proposal was too focused on “business as usual.”

In June, as the city was under curfew and the National Guard was on the streets, Garcetti acceded to a demand by Black Lives Matter activists to defund the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) by $150 million, more than 10% of the budget.

The funding was to be redistributed to “communities of color.” The move led to a collapse in morale within the police department, and coincided with a surge in homicides in Los Angeles. Several specialized units within the LAPD were cut.

Now there is a fight over the redistribution plan. . . .

Two members of the Cornell University student government were removed from their positions as part of a retaliation campaign after they refused to support an effort to disarm the campus police force, according to the students were removed and the Cornell College Republicans. The student assembly said their former peers were removed in response to the “emotional violence” they committed by voting against the disarmament resolution.

According to a report by Newsmax, two members of the student government at Cornell University were removed from their position over their refusal to support a recent initiative to disarm police on campus. . . .

I thought that the original intention behind the misleading and politically foolish slogan “Defund the police” was to cut police programs that are redundant as well as those that are inappropriate for police to handle due to a lack of training and expertise. The redistribution of wealth now seems to be a cause celebre of those who do not understand what the initial purpose of defunding was. In fact, many Black leaders, including Al Sharpton for example, do NOT wish the funds toward policing to be defunded at all, but focus instead on police reform. This is because it is the consensus among minority leaders that people of color need the police to do their job effectively now more than ever.
