Laboring on Sundays

I thought that you all might be able to help me out here.
I am studying abroad in a Latin American country. Tomorrow, many people will begin a walk 70 kilometers from the Capital to a Cathedral in another province. The walk will take about 18 hours. At this point there will be Mass, and then a busses will take them back to their houses.
This may seem like an odd question, but I was wondering if my paying for a bus ride back home constitutes a sin, because the driver has to work on a Sunday. It isn’t a necessity for me to take the bus, because I can just go to a church down the street.
Apparently thousands of people do this every year, and I want to take part in it but I wonder what the Official Church Teaching is and how it should be understood.

2187 Sanctifying Sundays and holy days requires a common effort. Every Christian should avoid making unnecessary demands on others that would hinder them from observing the Lord’s Day. Traditional activities (sport, restaurants, etc.), and social necessities (public services, etc.), require some people to work on Sundays, but everyone should still take care to set aside sufficient time for leisure. With temperance and charity the faithful will see to it that they avoid the excesses and violence sometimes associated with popular leisure activities. In spite of economic constraints, public authorities should ensure citizens a time intended for rest and divine worship. Employers have a similar obligation toward their employees.

But wow …a pilgrimage like they do in Poland! Good luck…not for me …make sure you stay hydrated with safe forms of hydration…I did not in Denver at WYD…and suffered heat exhaustion (I did not realize I was not drinking enough)

Thanks. This makes me feel a lot better. This is actually a walk from Buenos Aires to Lujan. i didn’t know that they did one in Poland. This was the first time I’d ever heard of anything similar to this. I am really excited about it.

For most people it wouldn’t cross their minds that this might be a sin. but I am from a much smaller town and I try not to spend any money on Sundays when I am there. When I am here, I try very hard not to, but public transportation, and other things make that difficult.

I don’t want to put strain someone’s spirituality or commit sin. I am kind of tense here too, so I may be a bit more “observant” anyway.

Yes certainly no sin… and do not scruple on other areas here either…

one can certainly “spend money” …for example going to eat…or with reasonable entertainment, public transportation…cultural events etc…(of course do not have any unnecessary ditches dug for you…) no worries …
