Lady Gaga has used her suffering as an opportunity to share her Catholic faith:

Hopefully more Catholic celebrities will be inspired to share their faith publicly.

I wish Gaga all the best but i’ve never had the idea that she’s too enthusiastic about the catholic faith…

In today’s secular world, what could she possibly gain by making this act of faith in front of her many millions of fans around the world on social media? Other than potential ridicule from some, it might well be inspiration for others.

I think it is clear that Catholicism has meaning in her life from the article. It is not just about a photo with rosary beads. Perhaps like all of us her illness is drawing her closer to her faith. I think that is something to rejoice about, not something to judge her for.

Prayers offered for her.

I like Lady Gaga and I wish her well.

Her song “A million reasons” seems to show her searching for God.

A lot of people come back to the faith when faced with a trial. I came back when my mother was diagnosed with melanoma. I hope she finds the comfort she needs by returning to her Catholic roots. I know I did.

Um, what?

A rosary in one’s hand does not a Catholic make. Look closer.
Or read the article and see that she had been inspired by a homily when she went to church (perhaps dragged by her parents) and ate with him at their restaurant after. When asked the question, she did not deny her faith but rather confirmed it.

However small the steps she is taking she should be encouraged and not demonized by those of us who also claim to be Catholic.

She went to a Catholic school that constantly weighed on her because she wanted to express her musical talent. She didn’t get to and desperately sought outlets for it. She’s in the public eye in an industry well known for taking advantage of women to the point of rape and abuse. She was very young when she entered the industry and she’s publically admitted to being the target of sexual violence.

She is returning to the faith when she has many reasons to feel rejected and neglected by it. She has chosen to, at least on the surface, align herself with the Church rather than demean it.

We need to take her own words seriously and pray that her conversion process remains true.
