Laity Worshiping like Priests?

If Benny Hinn were Catholic and acted the way he does, absolutely.
He is a Protestant and acts accordingly. Our beloved Pope has no problem with Protestants acting like Protestants and neither do I.

When Catholics act like him, Hmmmmmm.

I have never seen a Benny Hinn broadcast so I have no idea how protestants from that persuasion ACT.
But I have seen Many Priests raise their hands in prayer and worship…I LIKE IT !
according to scripture, the protestants did not invent this form of worship.
I take it you saw Benny raising his hands, so now "raising your hands " is shameful.
If you saw Osama bin-Laden Consuming the Eucharist, would you avoid the Eucharist there-after ?

The entire Heritage from Abraham, through David, Forms of Prayer and Worship,The best there is…
has been given to us through Christ,
so why are some Catholics intimidated into fear that raising of hands is “protestant”
They barely arrived on the scene, how could it be theirs ?

If you (anybody) does not want to OFFER your hands to God at the Altar (according to Romans 6: 12,13)…
and your bodies to God at the Altar (Rom. 12: 1)
Does that mean you do not believe God is Present at the Altar ?
or does it mean you are saving your hands (and heart) for some other purpose ?

…or are you even aware of what is going on at the OFFERATORY ?

How about this approach…?
From your internet name, I take it you are somebody’s mom…
If you have ever seen a toddler raise up his / her hands to you with a plea in their eyes that seem to say:
“Please pick me up…I need to be Loved, and Hugged and appreciated…” (they don’t know the words, of course.)

THAT is our clue at Mass !
"Unless you become like little children, you shall not enter the Kingdom of God,"

…of course if at Mass we are more conscious of “impressing people” than we are of getting Right into God’s Heart…
That becomes a serious problem of its own !

I think if we are not deeply enjoying our Worship at The Eucharistic Cellebration…(fault-finding instead)
something very basic is wrong.
Not with the Liturgy, but in our hearts and Imaginations.

Either you are ignorant to societal norms and therefore do not understand how crass and insulting you are being or you are covering your lack of concern for other’s feeling with a hefty coat of sugar.

You sing your own praises while insulting others. You just don’t see it.

Either way, if you are truely trying not to insult, you need to have someone else read your posts before you hit that button.

I am Catholic my friend. Until the Vatican give the directive for me to hold my hands in the Orans position, I won’t. Can you give me this directive from the Vatican? I can give you the directives for the Priest. You may consider yourself a Priest but the Vatican does not. If you choose to believe you are a Priest Hmmmmmm.

The Vatican has given this directive for Priests in the liturgy, where have The Church given it for you?

I’m afraid I’m loosing the “thread” of this thread. Are we arguing that the orans is dictated or optional or desirable or what? And who the bloody cheese crackers says that only charismatics are the real Catholics? Did I sleep through a papacy?

“societal norms” are mostly people who do not know or love God, to them Christianity is crass.
but OK to worship your favorite team,
or your favorite band. …or your possessions.

These are my own expressed thoughts, not somebody elses.
The way I figure it, there are three voices that speak to us;
The World,
The flesh, and
The Devil

and of course, The Holy Spirit is available to us also,
So who do you ask before you press that button ?

I am Catholic too, I am no better than you, and you are no better than me.
I was Baptized into Christ’s death… and I rest very securely there.
If during the Liturgy, the Spirit of God fills you with a finger-tip of his Love and power, and you are moved by such,
will you first need aproval from the Vatican to express your Love in return ?
Like a horse needs a “nudge” with the bridle before he moves ?

I am not an ordained priest, but in Baptism "You too are living stones , built as an edifice of spirit, into a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ."
When he says “You”
I take that to mean me.
(check w/ the vatican or your priest on this, BTW.)

and even if some sleepy-head like Eutychus thinks I am out of order,
I still believe God accepte my offer
of my hands with my heart behind them.

But if you need someone with more authority than the prompting of the Holy Spirit to ORDER you to do that…
I wouldn’t even think that is Christianity.

I sometimes wonder if many a Priest ever wonders if he is speaking to "ol’ wooden planks… sitting on wooden pews .
