Hi, I am needing help finding a specific version of Lamb of God. This will be for a funeral Mass, but I do not want to traditional Mass of Creation version, I don’t care for the tune as much. The version I am looking for has a prettier tune (in my opinion) and these lyrics:

Lamb of God, offered for us
You take away the sins of the world
Have mercy on us, have mercy, have mercy on us
Bread of life, broken for us
You take away the sins of the world
Have mercy on us, have mercy, have mercy on us
Lamb of God, offered for us
You take away the sins of the world
Oh grant us peace, oh grant us lasting peace
Lamb of God.

I can’t find any audio sample of it online or any composer name. If someone could at least help me out with the composer, I’d be grateful. I can PM a link to the version, the forum won’t let me post it. Who wrote this? What version? Thanks in advance,

Anne

There is not an exception for funeral masses. Only approved texts.

Most US Parishes have purchased a hymnal for use at Mass. Hymnals usually contain 4 or 5 “Mass Settings” that you can choose from.

I am partial to the “Worship and Bow Down” setting, you could buy the sheet music online from OCP.

I think this is the prettiest of the HHS Masses:

Hass’ “Mass of Light”

Mine is a small country church, no hymnal. The weekend mass hymns are printed out in a booklet. I didn’t think to save the one from Mass the day I heard this version!

Probably a blessing as that is not the correct text.

Call the Chancery office at your Diocese, they may have sheet music that you can borrow.

The version I am looking for has a prettier tune (in my opinion) and these lyrics:
Anne, that is called a trope and it’s not allowed.

You must use the approved liturgical texts and hymns. You may not use a trope that replaced “lamb of God” with some other phrase.

First, I’ll join with others in saying I’m not sure I’d choose this one for use because of the tropes.

This is from the Mass of God’s Promise by Dan Schutte. OCP does sell a revised version of the Mass for use with the current Roman Missal, but the Lamb of God Litany does not appear to have been revised (other than the obvious change of “the sin of the world” to “the sins of the world”.) The official Youtube of the revised Mass setting does not include the Lamb of God.

The Vatican has urged parishes to use the Agnus Dei as found in the Missal and not add to it. See here for more: http://m.ncregister.com/blog/jimmy-akin/vatican-stop-messing-with-the-lamb-of-god#.WojJsJ9Ok0M
And from the text at the link this revison from USCCB document Sing to the Lord: Music in Divine Worship now reads (new text in bold):
  1. The supplicatory chant Agnus Dei accompanies the Fraction Rite. It is, “as a rule, sung by the choir or cantor with the congregation responding; or it is, at least, recited aloud. This invocation accompanies the fraction and, for this reason, may be repeated as many times as necessary until the rite has reached its conclusion, the last time ending with the word dona nobis pacem (grant us peace)” (GIRM, no. 83). The Agnus Dei should not be prolonged unnecessarily (see GIRM, no. 83) nor may other texts be added to this chant.

Maybe this is God’s tapping you on the shoulder to study the GIRM, RS, etc. and to become involved with your parish in selecting music for the liturgy.

Try a fund raiser to purchase some hymnals or Missalettes.
