Laminated scapular?

Is it okay for a scapular (in this instance, a green one) to be laminated? I thought I read somewhere that scapulars are not supposed to be laminated.

Well I hope so. I bought mine from the camelites. They send me prayers and news in the mail. I donate to them when I can. The ones they send me are laminated already and I wear a brown scapular always except when I bathe and a St. Michael’s metal. Have a blessed day! Brenda

I have not heard anything about laminated scapulars; just that scapular medals are not considered scapulars. I dislike wearing laminated scapulars because they are uncomfortable and scratch my skin.

I am allergic to wool, I wear a 4 way cross, but carry a regular brown scapular in my purse and keep one in my car. I have read in an old book that explains the scapular, that in these cases (allergies), you may wear an alternative, but if at all possible, the real thing is best, laminated or not.
