Lanao congresswoman goes ballistic over pork

I ate pork during one of my visits abraod from Egypt by Mistake. I knew i was eating pork after i ate about 75% of the dish . Then my collegue told me it was pork.

Well, i simply wiped my mouth put my fork and knife down ( yes i swallowed the bit in my mouth and didnt spit it or somthing !) Excused myself from the table emptied the pork left in the bin and then i had some desert.

Some muslims are ignorant of their own faith. Its sad but it doesnt make them what islam is .

The prophet said explicitly that a muslim is excused from mistake , forgetfulness and what they have been forced to do .

It means that if i eat pork by mistake i have no problem ( not even a little one) with God . If i forget to fast in Ramadan and ate all day from sunrise to sunset then i have no problem whatsoever and God considers me fasted that day. If somebody forces me to eat the dirtiest pig ever and drink its blood then God wouldnt even record it as a minor sin , infact he will reward me for my patience.

In the end , this lady over reacted because of the ignorance about her own faith. This shows that religious education is definetly flawed in where she lives.

Thanks for clarifying your faith.

I read this story in our newspaper over here (yes that is how far the media seem to go at reporting anything bad about Islam), and I will admit I got mad that Muslims are like this, but now I see she was wrong.

I have a question for you meedo.

If you do eat pork, and as you said, God will let you into Heaven still only after you have been punished, can you not forgive your sin to God beforehand and repent, so that you don’t have to be punished?

All excellent points. I admit my knowledge of Islam is limited but even I knew that in Islam, God doesn’t hold you resonsible for something that isn’t your fault. I think the state of religious education in most faiths is getting worse these days. I find that really sad.

Pardon me, but I hope you you aren’t excusing the rogue behaviour of this so- called muslim “solon”. If she had killed the waitress, should we just shrug our shoulders and casually rationalize that the poor girl “deserved” it for allegedly offending muslim sensibilities?

Muslims aren’t exactly known for turning the other cheek. They burn and riot at the slightest hint of an insult, and even threaten those fellow muslims who would like to openly convert to other religions.

They would deny it of course.
 
The manager did not intentionally put pork.

That’s why I got sad when the slapping incident happened.

It is hard to hear that anyone believes that God is so unjust as to punish someone for an unwitting mistake. That makes the believers superstitious and makes God petty and foolish. How sad. sadly there are muslims who have developed a phobia out of pork. This is all based on wrong religious teaching . There is a difference between not eating pork and feeling that if you have eaten a piece of pork then you are contaminated for life!!

Eating pork for muslims is a sin if they did it knowingly and in their full acceptance and knwoledge and without bieng forced to by any reasonable hardship .

This is not ‘’ my view or my approach ‘’ actually but that is how orthodox islam Is . sadly as you said others who dont know their religion well think they are contaminated for life for ever touching pork . This is ofcourse is wrong.

God has the capability of forgiving any sin whatsoever even if one dies without repenting before he dies except one sin , which is to worship others beside him.

The companions of the prophet were humans who did sins before Islam like drinking alcohol and dealing with Usury and even some of them followed the shameful custom of killing their baby girls because they didnt like girls.

If God can forgive a man who repented and felt bittter and regretful and sorrow of killing an innocent soul, then he easily would forgive a person who ate pork even without repentance.

In Orthodox Islam there are tradition of God forgiving all the sins of a man who did NOTHING good in his life except one time he said the testemony of faith with conviction and humiliation.

our purpose of life is to acknowledge and worship and obey God. All other things are means or manifestation of methods that lead to this Goal . This is the Opinion of Islam on this matter .

Yes of course God can forgive me for eating pork. Even without i repent people of fath expect Gods generosity on judgement day.

How about if out of spite towards Catholics a non-Catholic slipped birth control pills into your food and told you after it was to late.

I know that would be difficult due to various factors but its the same point.

The question is, was it deliberate or not, and my belief was that it wasn’t deliberate. Pansit is a filipino dish that is traditionally served with pork and pork liver. Any filipino knows that that is how it is served. Her only mistake is that she didn’t know a muslim was ordering the pansit.

What I’m aghast at is this congresswoman’s reaction, which is simply unacceptable. What would happen if she had instead shot or stabbed the waitress?

Is this excusable under the law?

I believe that we have already agreed, based on Meedo’s excellent posts, that her behavior is not excusable under the law and that her understanding of Islamic law and the effects of mistakes in diet are contrary to what Islam teaches.
