Language in heaven

Currently contemplating the vast nuances of language. It is so vague, unless we speak in many, many words to clarify. What one person might think to be a simple, clear word, might have a totally different meaning or connotation to someone else. So do the communion of saints speak a language that is not of this world, that is communicates precise meaning? (Then again, I am also beginning to see all of language as tautology, just repeating the truth or at least attempting to, and when with God Who Is Truth, would language even be necessary?)

My guess is that there might be a form of telepathy in which you hear your mother tongue. Maybe like at the first Pentecost.

I’m pretty sure the language of God is Latin. You better study your conjugations. 🙂
 
Uhh no if it`s Latin then God is going to a have a serious talking to.

I think Heaven is the reverse of what happened at the Tower of Babel. When we get to Heaven, everyone will feel like they are still speaking their native language and like everyone else is speaking their native language too, but it will be a one universal heavenly language. 🙂 Like I will feel like I’m still speaking English and it will feel to me like **everyone else **is speaking English too, but we will all be speaking not English or any earthly language but a heavenly language that we won’t have to learn, we’ll just know it and it will feel like each person’s own native language. 👍

In The Tower of Babel story everyone felt like they were still speaking the same universal language they always spoke but they were actually speaking a new language and others could not understand them. That’s how the different languages came into existence, so Heaven will be the reverse.🙂

We can only speculate. It’s my opinion that we will have perfect knowledge on any subject and therefore be able to speak any language ever formulated.
 
Given that most of the time people seem to be talking badly against each other, gossiping, back biting, making snide, sexist put downs against anyone not in the room, I doubt that there will be much need to talk a lot in Heaven. I am going to be too busy trying to find my room. I have no sense of direction and being a man of course, I will never ask.

I agree; it was basicaly what I was thinking. We can understand everyone, even though we only know and speak our own native language, like at the Pentecost.

That is interesting. Though it might cause the loss of the ability to appreciate poetry, because if it is just translated then we do not realize the natural cadence and rhyme particular to that language that adds meaning.
But then, I think we will somehow “know” it anyway.

Talking about language, rhythm, cadence and music, if we exist outside of time, will the things that depend on the progress of time still exist? Things like music, speech, and processes as a whole.

For us, humans, the desire to communicate is ever present. If I have a thought in my mind, I need to find a medium (method of transportation) of sending this thought to you. We use Language for that.
I believe, that once in heaven, your thoughts will be ONE with the Creator as well as “everyone else” there, so much so, that a medium is not even required. Hence, no need for Language(s).
If you can imagine, being able to ‘send’ your thought directly to another, you are getting the idea.

I agree. 👍

Sometimes (through the grace of the Holy Spirit I believe), things just click between people. There is instant understanding - you may even finish each other’s sentences.

Other times, it is just a muddle, the more you try to clarify, the more it feels disconnected - one big total misunderstanding!

I think we will know and communicate with each other, as you say, in the same universal language.

No one knows. " It has not entered the heart of man what God has prepared for those who love him. " So whatever it is, it will make everything in this world pale into insignificance.
