My very elderly parent is no longer able to read her bible. I’m legally blind but my 14pt version of the Bible is too small for her.

Our library has a Protestant bible with giant fonts (larger than 14pt) that she can read. The publisher does not print a Catholic version.

Does anyone know of a Catholic bible or publisher of Catholic books/prayer books, etc with 15+pt print?

We’ve exhausted electronic options. I use the National Library Service for the blind but she has never figured out how to use my device, so her own won’t be better. She can’t use an iPad or phone with anything but numbers. I have an Alexa with an Audible version of the Bible but she never manages to ask Alexa correctly or Alexa misunderstands and starts reading the wrong book from my library. She’s given up on electronics.

Sorry she has given up on electronics. I LOVE having many copies/translations of the Bible on Kindle because I can make the font as large as I need it to be!

Project Gutenberg has a TXT file of the entire DR Catholic Bible. You could have this printed at your local Kinko’s in any font you desire

FORMED.org offers the Dramatized Audio New Testament.

Librivox free audio Bibles (perhaps you could burn them to CDs for her?)

Hi legallyblindcatholic,

Mostly what I am finding out there on the Internet in really large font sizes–what are called “Giant Print Bibles”–are what you would call a Protestant Bible.

I am not finding anything larger than 14 pt. in a Catholic Bible.

Here is the website that offers the Large Print Catholic Bibles:

Here is a sample page for you in PDF format from allbibles.com, of a New American Standard Bible in size 14 pt., to give you some idea of what it would look like:

The only other thing that I can think of, would be to ask one of the Reference Librarians at your local library for some references to visually impaired resources/websites and then take it from there to see what they have for resources. 🙂
