Hi everyone,
I am trying to pick a confirmation name and I thought I’d post a thread to see if anyone has any suggestions.
My main interests are philosophy, fishing/hunting, design, music. I like spending time with family and I also like to expand myself through travel, reading, prayer, etc. I am very attracted the more traditional Catholic faith—including Latin Mass, liturgy, the sacraments. I have a special affinity for reconciliation.
I should also say that I am coming to the faith late. Although I was baptized and received first communion, faith was not present in my house. My parents never talked about it. I was a devout agnostic for most of my adulthood. Very secular, very relativistic, very progressive. I’ve been through a divorce, now annulment, and that has all be mysteriously drawing me to the church. I am 39 now.
I am considering St. Michael the Archangel for my confirmation name, but I also like St. Bonaventure.
MICHAEL
I like Michael because I like chivalry, justice, virtue. I have a warrior spirit and as I move into starting a family, I like the idea of them being closely protected by both me and the Archangel.
BONAVENTURE
I like Bonaventure because of the emphasis on knowing God through loving study and attention. I think I often study for dry knowledge, but to study for the purposes of love is a better reason.
Thanks!

What do you all think? Good choices? Any other suggestions? I want to decide by tonight, so I can let my RCIA director know in time for the Easter Vigil. The holy labor of striving after knowledge of God became St. Bonaventure’s way of life. He understood that when the pursuit of truth is combined with love, Christ opens a hidden doorway within the heart, where he himself whispers unforgettable things, drawing us ever more deeply toward our ultimate end, which is God
