"Last Saturday" in July

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Our Parish has initiated a “Parish Rosary” on the last Saturday of each month beginning today. I hope you will join me in praying a Rosary with attention and devotion, in union with us. The woman who initiated this effort is an Auxiliary Member of the Legion of Mary and a very sincere, devout woman.

I extended the invitation she published in our Parish Bulletin, sending an e-mail to all our Legion Members, as well as to members of our Parish Bible Studies and to my own family and friends in many different places. I am extending it now to all my brothers and sisters here on CAF.

We will be gathering at our parish Church to pray the Rosary before the Blessed Sacrament. Doors of the Church open at 10:15 and Rosary begins at 10:30. The intentions are the intentions of those present. If you cannot pray at that time, just pray your Rosary when you can. You all will be included in my Rosary for all I have is in Mary’s Hands and we are all her children. Jesus gave her to us from His Cross and she is the most Faithful of all mothers. She hears and answers when we pray “now and at the hour of our death. Amen”

Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for us.

O my Jesus, pardon us and save us from the fires of hell. Draw all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of Your Mercy.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your Faithful. Kindle in us the fire of Your Love.
 
I can start my Rosary right now, for mine and the intentions of those who have already said it, and who will.

Thanks so much for your reply and for letting me know you prayed your Rosary today! Someone counted the number of persons who came for the Parish Rosary in Church this morning and told me the total was 29. I will need to tell her, it is probably more than that since your spiritual presence and another friend who sent me an e-mail would make it at least 31 persons. 🙂

My hope is: many more prayed the Rosary than we can count because today is Saturday and for centuries that has been “Mary’s special day”. Since Fatima, perhaps, it has also become a special day for praying the Rosary. Mary asked three little shepherd children at Fatima to pray the Rosary daily, yet today how many children and adults pray a daily Rosary? I wonder.

The woman who organized this Parish Rosary effort, asked if anyone would like to write out a petition to be remembered in the Rosary, to write it on a paper in the back of Church. After making the sign of the cross, she read out the intentions listed and I was struck by the number of people who prayed for family members to return to the practice of their faith or for Catholics in general to return to Church. There were some requests for “special intentions”, for healing and at least one, maybe more for “America”.

Thanks to all who read this thread and who like you, dear Dorothy, prayed with us. “Wherever two or three are gathered in My Name”, the Lord tells us, He is there.

Thank you for your message. I had prayed the Scriptural Rosary.

I very much like the Scriptural Rosary, and have had one at my home every Monday afternoon, with additional prayers as well, and a quiet time with about three minutes of sacred music. After that we have a bit of social time. Anywhere from four to eight ladies are present.

Happily, a larger group meets for a Scriptural Rosary once a month, in a home much larger than mine, that can accommodate about twenty ladies.

Of the various parishes in my area most have a rosary said before, or after Mass.

How beautiful! Yes, the Scriptural Rosary is a great help in meditating upon the mysteries. Yesterday at our Parish Rosary, the woman who organized it led the prayers and before each mystery read a verse or two of scripture corresponding to each mystery. I was grateful also for her slow pace in praying. Often in communal prayer, people go too fast.

I will forward your words to her, in case she might like to try your method also. 🙂
