One of the churches in my area has a Spanish Mass at 6pm. Another one has an FSSP Mass at 5:30pm.

Yes, our last Sunday Mass is at 5:30 pm. It is often euphemistically referred to as the “slacker’s Mass” (not my phrase BTW so don’t go getting indignant and screaming at me).

Or the Mass of Last Resort. Our parishes don’t. Not enough priests celebrating in too many parishes.

But the cathedral in Sherbrooke Qc does, at 5 pm, preceded by Vespers, as does the one in St-Hyacinthe, Qc. The latter is actually my diocese, but the one in Sherbrooke is equidistant and easier to get to (better roads).

My parish does not, but several parishes in the surrounding area do. Times include 4:30, 5:00, 5:30, 6:00 and 7:30.

No. But I would LOVE a very late Sunday Mass.
Would be so great.

Neighboring parishes have Sunday Masses at 18:00 and 19:45.

Also nearby universities hold Masses as late as 21:00 and 22:00 (I think)

:twocents:
tee

A nearby parish has one at 10:30 PM. It’s mainly for workers at restaurants since they close at 10:00 here on Sundays. There are several 2:00 Masses in the diocese.

Territorial parish: no
ICRSS: yes, at 6:30pm

I consider both to be “my” parish, hence the two answers.

Most parishes around here do not, but I live in a large city and know where the slacker Masses are. I attend often.

My favorites are:
1:00 pm at the “traditional” parish
5:30 pm at same
2:30 pm at the Catholic hospital - catching those getting off day shift
7:00 pm ethnic parish
8:30 pm in the suburbs-- it used to be held by candlelight, but I think too many fell asleep

our parish used to. the Newman center in town has a 5:30 pm and a 9:00 pm when school is in session.

My parish, no. A nearby parish does, and another does Sunday evenings. Those who are busy in the morning can however attend a vigil at my parish.

No. Our latest is Sunday noon.

I would, too.

I wouldn’t purposely not attend on Saturday night or Sunday morning and rely on a Sunday night Mass, but it would be nice if it were there for us.

Our parish has four priests, and so we can easily afford to have our 5:15 Mass on Sunday. 🙂

My wife is a night nurse, and has to work one Saturday night per pay-period. Having the evening Mass makes things a lot easier in that regard, and there’s a lot less pressure on Sunday morning.

We have a 5:15 PM Mass on Sunday, which my family sometimes has to attend based on work demands.

… well, work demands, and the fact that our 11:30 AM Mass, which we could otherwise attend, has some pretty corny music. 😛

That’s what it tends to be for us. Some also call it the “Bronco’s Mass” during Autumn for those that are occupied with watching football games for the 9:30, 11:30, and 1:30 masses.

Actually in my area most of the 5:30 - 7pm masses are geared towards teens. It’s why it’s the mass of last resort for us; I don’t like the music, so I’ll only go to them if I have no other choice. 😉
