Is being lated for work a sin? You have around 10 to 15 people waiting for you, you dont call or let anyone know you are going to be late.
The people that are waiting for you have things to do and it is affecting their life.

Just curious

If you know you’re going to be late you should try to call in advance. Sometimes it’s impossible, if everyone else gets there the same time as you or something. Some places don’t have an answering machine either, so you literally can’t call early even if you want to.

Don’t stress, I’ve had bosses who literally told me not to bother calling if I was going to be ‘only’ ten or fifteen minutes late 🤷 so it probably depends how late you’re gonna be too.

Depends on the circumstance. If one is making every reasonable attempt not to be late for work, is stuck in traffic and cannot contact the office, then it would not be a sin. There is no objective “evil” in being late, per se.

However, the problem is one of obedience. When a person accepts a job offer and signs on with the company, they implicitely promise to function in accord with the company’s policy. When they are late to work without notice or a justifiable reason, the sin is not *really *being late as much as it is the person not being true to their word.

As Christ says “let you ‘yes’ mean ‘yes’ and your ‘no’ mean ‘no.’”

That is very true, too. Again, as being “late” isn’t an inherent evil, its moral quality is largely dependent upon the disposition of the person in management that you are subordinate to. Some bosses don’t mind and, since they’re your boss, you shouldn’t let it affect you terribly.

Well, he could of called and let someone know he was going to be late.

What I am getting at is that …Did the Priest commit as sin?
I left the church without going to confession. The priest never showed up. Confession supposed to have started at 430 pm. I got there at 415 pm. waited till 450. Thinderstorms were rolling in, I was on my motorcycle. I left
There were people in the office there, he could of called so they could of let us know.

just wont be able to receive communion in the morning, unless I go downtown to a different Church. They have confessions before each Mass, plus its a Tridentine Mass.

I might do that

Ahh…isn’t it amazing how there are powers that work overtime to keep us from confession? I love when you’re the last person in line and the priest MUST leave the confessional so he can say mass.

This is one perfect example of why people shouldn’t have the attitude of “I’ll sin and then I’ll just go to confession.” You might not have the chance!!!

Maybe the priest was detained at a sick call or something and was unable to stop what he was doing and call his office or something.

Keep trying, my friend! 👍

He could of called the Church and let the staff know, then let us know.

Some hospitals are a no-call zone. He may have been involved in an emergency where it would have been imprudent to get on the phone and call. Or he may have been in a traffic jam and unable to call.

If he’s a priest who is usually punctual and conscientious about his duties, cut him some slack. He doesn’t treat his responsibility lightly. If this is a pattern, he needs prayers. He will answer to God for the souls that did not receive absolution because he blew off his duties.

I’m always prone to be as forgiving to the priest as I hope he’ll be to me after he hears my sins! 😉
