Is there an EF for Baptism as there is for the Mass? Or if this isn’t the correct terminology… Basically, is there a way to have my child baptized in the way children were baptized before Vatican II.

Yes. I would suggest you speak with the priest who offers the EF that you attend. He will be able to discuss the matter competently.

Absolutely. That is how my grandbaby was baptised last year. Talk to your priest about it.Very cool ceremony.👍

Bear in mind there is absolutely no difference to the validity of the baptism between the two.
 
Well, the new baptismal rites also leave out the exorcism.

Either you haven’t been paying attention or the minister has been doing it wrong. :confused:

Or is the exocism an “optional” part of the ceremony? In any case, baptisms I am familiar with have included them.

In the old ceremony it’s performed outside the church.

Well, I haven’t been to any baptisms lately…

But it’s my understanding the new rite of baptism leaves out the two exorcisms that were previously present in the 1962 Missal.

The rite of baptism has never been included in the Missal–1962 or otherwise.
 
I have not checked it against a paper book, but the internet produces this:
PRAYER OF EXORCISM AND ANOINTING BEFORE BAPTISM
86. After the invocation, the celebrant says:
Almighty and ever-living God,
you sent your only Son into the world
to cast out the power of Satan, spirit of evil,
to rescue man from the kingdom of darkness,
and bring him into the splendour of your kingdom of light.
We pray for this child:
set him (her) free from original sin,
make him (her) a temple of your glory,
and send your Holy Spirit to dwell with him (her).
(We ask this) through Christ our Lord. R. Amen.
87. The celebrant continues:
We anoint you with the oil of salvation
in the name of Christ our Saviour;
may he strengthen you
with his power,
who lives and reigns for ever and ever.
R. Amen.
He anoints the child on the breast with the oil of catechumens.
89. Then they go to the baptistry, or to the sanctuary when baptism is celebrated there on occasion.

(with no indication of its being optional)

Also, CCC #'s 1237 and 1673 indicate exorcism within the rite.

Why the heck do you care?

It’s her baby, and she can have him/her baptised how she wants it.

Summorum Pontificum, as far as I know, permits receiving ALL the sacraments in the 1962 form.

So who are you, some random Internet forum commentator, to second-guess and judge the OP’s desire to receive the 1962 form of baptism?

I know I like the ceremony because I’ve seen videos of it online. But I didn’t know if it was from a schismatic church or something and whether it was a licit form. Also, I’ve read about the ceremony online. Again, I just didn’t know if it existed as a valid form these days.

Thanks, now this makes sense to me. Obedience to the Church first, personal preference second! 👍
