The Latin Mass Community at Mission San Buenaventura, after 15 years at the Mission, was removed by the new pastor. Through the charity of Archbishop Gomez and the pastor, Fr. Preston P. Passos, of St. Mary Magdalen, they now have a new home:

I’m so glad to see you were able to find a new place. It’s difficult when you have to share with another parish, and rely on the good graces of the pastor.

It isn’t my Latin Mass community, but I know members of that community and I am grateful that they have a good new home. It appears that their new Archbishop is a very pastoral leader. 🙂

Huh. I didn’t know that. I may have to check it out.
 
Here is a letter thanking Archbishop Gomez from the Latin Mass community removed from Mission San Buenaventura:

Your Excellency,

I just wanted to let you know that we have successfully moved from the Mission in Ventura to St. Mary Magdalen chapel in Camarillo. We have doubled in size from our typical Mass at the Mission.
We are feeling welcome in our new home! Many newcomers say that they have never been to an Extraordinary Form Mass and were very moved at the reverence and beauty of this ancient form of the Roman Rite.

The Ventura Latin Mass community have posted pics of their Palm Sunday Mass at their new location, just beautiful:

Wonderful news. I was worried when I had heard that the TLM would no longer be offered at Mission San Buenaventura. But the situation has turned out quite well. I love the old Mission San Buenaventura, but St. Mary Magdalene looks to have larger windows, so it isn’t so dark inside like the old Mission is.

God bless Archbishop Gomez, Fr. Preston Passos, Una Voce and everyone who helped make the TLM available at St. Mary Magdalene! 🙂
