My views are right down the centre of the Church as in accordance with Rome -‘Traditional Catholicism’ is not a healthy term. Period.
Of course it is.

It may rub your fur the wrong way, but the Church has made an effort to recognize and protect Catholics who are attached to the 1962 Missal, who point out that Latin remains the language of the Roman rite, and that there is value to preserving the traditional liturgical, theological, and spiritual expressions of the Catholic Faith so that they are not extinguished.

It doesn’t rub me up the wrong way! Maybe that is disappointing news or you? 🙂

First, the point I disagree with: read up on current Vatican statements. You’ll see. Otherwise I would not have written what I wrote.

The point I agree with is that I think it is lovely to know the Vatican makes this effort although I can’t see any reason why it would disappear. But you do?

To the OP, sometimes a fear, or more accurately, an inner-tension is a God-given feeling or instinct so knowledge can indeed help to be wiser in reading the situation.

I hope you choose to study basic Latin.

God bless.

How can you possible feel left out at a Latin mass? If you go to the ordinary form you should just about know the mass from memory or at least be familiar with the prayers. If they are said in Latin you should still know what is being said by it’s position in the mass and by what the priest is doing. In addition, there should be a missallette with the translation on the opposite page. If you are in doubt about where you are, follow what everyone else is doing; stand, kneel and sit. The mystery of the mass is not changed by it’s language. Presumable the priest does not give his homily in Latin. There is something magical ( I don’t mean any disrespect) in having the mass the same all over the world. Wherever you go it should be familiar in every country.
My Jewish friends say they appreciate that they can go to any country and follow along because Hebrew is the language of the service everywhere.

Odd … you certainly presented as being negative.

Cite one.

Amazing how you backpedaled from “Traditional Catholicism’ is not a healthy term. Period.” to this.

I can read five languages, one of which is Latin.

Why, do you need a physician’s prescription translated?

.

Not negative; honest. Respectfully, I suggest you do your own reading. Why would I want to study something I already know.

Not back-peddling; making several points. It is okay to like one thing but not something else - views on different elements to do with one subject. So no contradiction.

Pleased for you that you enjoy languages! But seemingly you haven’t been taught manners going by what you just said - underlined (?!) There does seem to be a recurring pattern in your posts with the inclusion of personal remarks and attempts at spite when you don’t agree with something someone says. I rate manners a lot higher than languages and I doubt I’m the only one! 🙂

Nevertheless…

God bless.

This from the poster who regularly smacks others with rhetorical bricks across the side of the head?

It doesn’t show in your posts:

“‘Traditional Catholicism’ is not a healthy term. Period.”

Get a grip.

Today I came across a copy of the Latin funeral rite whilst sorting out some papers. I feel so much better now that I know what to expect. Perhaps God meant me to find it.

I really appreciate the helpful advice offered by members of this forum.

I have come to realise that whatever the language or the rite, it is the same sacrifice of the Holy Mass that is being offered and that I was wrong to get so anxious over it.

May God bless you all for your help.

I’m glad you feel more at peace, Peggy. And I hope both your in-laws are in good health and not fixing to die any time soon! 😃
