Latin Mass in Polk County, FL - Orlando Diocese Una Voce

Hello everyone, I am a soon-to-be convert in Polk County, Florida. There was one Latin Mass in Polk, way out in the middle of nowhere. It was recently cancelled. I was wondering if anyone knew of a stable group (or was willing to try to form one) in the Polk County area.
Also, does anyone know if there is interested in forming an Una Voce chapter in the Orlando Diocese or central Florida area?

The closest Latin Mass you will find, if the one in Lake Wales has been cancelled, will be in Sanford. They do a Latin Mass every Sunday at 2. It is located at the Chapel which is not at the Church location. Location

As for Una Voce I am not sure about the interest levels. This is something I would talk to your Pastor about or one of the Priests that do the Latin Mass in the Diocese.
 
Sanford is actually farther from me than the regular Latin Mass at St. Anthony of Padua’s in San Antonio. That’s in the St. Petersburg Diocese (www.saopcc.com).
Can you register at a parish in another diocese? I kind of doubt it.

You certainly may register at a Parish in another Diocese! 🙂 I live in Texas now, and we belong to a parish outside our diocese. My wife is from Florida and the Priest at St. Anthony’s, Fr. Edwin Palka, actually married my wife and me, and I know he’d be happy to have you register there regardless of where you live.
 
I would read this from EWTN before you decide where to register. WHY SHOULD I REGISTER AT MY PARISH?

I am surprised to find out that you are closer to St. Leo’s than All Souls. There is another option as well. FSSP has a Church in Sarasota called Christ the King they are in full communion with the Vatican.
 
That’s a great article from EWTN…one I’ve read before when deciding which Parish to register in. There is nothing in there that says one cannot register outside the Diocese in which they live. The Parish one belongs to is the Parish in which he/she registers and attends Mass and is “fed” (spiritually) by the Priest.

If one wishes to attend the Latin Mass and make the nearest Church which does this his/her Parish, one is free to do so…and the above linked articles states as much in support of this, although it doesn’t actually “need” to.

When a pastor allows these individuals to register, he also accepts the responsibility for their spiritual care…”

As I mentioned, I have no doubt that Fr. Ed, or any Priest I’ve ever consulted with, would be delighted to accept such a responsibility.

St. Joseph’s on Alafaya and 50 has Latin mass from what the priest had told me. After I had accidentally went to a mass that was 50% in Latin.
Love that particular parish, there is more variety of culture and masses there then any other parish I’ve been to in the diocese.
