What’s the difference between a pontifical high mass and a high mass?

High Mass is celebrated by a priest. Pontifical Masses, of whatever variety, are celebrated by bishops. Pontifical Solemn Mass is quite a pageant.

Thanks! Hmmmm, my curiosity might get the better of me. I was going to go to the 8am mass but I may also go to the 6pm mass. I won’t be able to receive communion at the 2nd mass, correct?

Yes you can. Outside of very special circumstances, you can receive Holy Communion twice in one day.

THe second time has to be within the context of a Holy Mass (not a Communion Service).

Canon 917
…Someone who has already received the Most Holy Eucharist can receive it again on the same day only within the Eucharistic celebration in which the person participates, with due regard for the prescription of can. 921 § 2.
A Pontifical High Mass certainly counts 👍

I was googling this simultaneously. Looks like it would be a go. I just wonder if it will look weird showing up for two masses in the same day (assuming anyone noticed LOL). 🤷

No one will notice. Or if they do, that means they are there twice also. 🙂 Do it!

Beautiful masses yesterday. The church was packed and there were lots of young catholics there! Thanks to Paulus and Juventutum!
