My Dear Brothers and Sisters,
You might remember the Latin Mass Society as covered by the Cardinal Newman Society!

Would like your (name removed by moderator)ut on the latest episode we’ve refined! We added some Mozart Gregorian Chant as well as an intro and outro. We’re aiming for consistenty and less advertisy and more focused on the spirit.

Here’s a photo of our table at our college orientation!

Mr Perlas,

Thanks for sharing the link. If I may offer one point of critique: the website is dominated by images of young women. They are very pretty (some look like models), but is this an appropriate hook? I also wonder if it might reinforce the idea that religion is for women. I do not see many religious symbols or pictures of our Lord, the Saints, priests or liturgy. The only photo of a man I found is a ghosted thumbnail of a forthcoming episode on the Videos page. Thanks for listening, and may God bless your efforts.

Dear Ad Orientem,
I thank you for your response! Sure that would be great! This is not the first time I’ve heard that critique, and I hope this is for the good. Are you suggesting that we should have more male models or more photos of crosses? I strive to meet our community’s demands and if that’s the case then it’s time to find those holy guys! Then again it’s quite hard to find lay faithful who are men who are willing to pose on the camera. In my defense, it seems like that there are more women in faith than men. As well as more women who are willing to get their photographs taken.

From the looks of your post it seems as if there should be more photos of symbols or pictures of our Lord. I try my best to put those photos up and yes you are correct – I should possibly put more photos of those over man. After all, we’re here to glorify the Lord and not man.

Rest assured on blog posts like this one regarding the Byzantine liturgy as well as the grotto of the miniature great wonders of the world are ever so present in the blog.

Yes! That photo is an interview with Patrick Yodzis! One of the fellow Latin Mass Society members. It’s actually an episode in the process of being re-corded.

But yes I will take into account your feedback. Don’t be a stranger in terms of your feedback! Time to add those crosses and symbols of our Lord more in the front. If you had any particular designs or artwork you are in favor of; by all means please lend me some inspiration.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Indeed; another reason to reach men!

I’m not suggesting you use models at all. Rochester Latin Mass Society has the kind of photos I’m talking about. There aren’t many women in the pictures, but that’s because most of the photos are of the liturgy. Isn’t that what the society is about, after all – the Mass? I’m not suggesting you exclude photos of women by any means, but that you adjust the ratio. And perhaps include photos of regular people not posing.

As far as artwork, take a look at Sancta Missa and Latin Mass Magazine. Simple but elegant. God bless.

That sounds like my university Latin class way back in the 60’s. They were very passionate about the subject. 🙂

Hope I didn’t dissuade any males out there. 🙂

So is your Latin Mass Society a federal 501 (c) 3 or just a state non-profit?

There are hundreds of “Latin Mass Societies” but most all of them have a location identifier in their name e.i. Rochester, is your Society attempting to be an “umbrella society”? If so you have an uphill fight as folks get real territorial. 🙂

It is a little confusing name as there are several groups with the name. Most use a local identifier of some sort. A lot of peoples thoughts may jump to the great and original Latin Mass Society Which has now itself started to use a local identifier.

I definitely agree about the pictures as well.

Anthony Perlas;10952773In my defense said:
I always assumed this was the case, but I’m not sure anymore. Not with women’s ‘liberation’ being linked to sexual liberation. I’ve seen men wanting out of the current culture more than women, or at least at a pace not out stripped by women. But I can’t back that up with anything greater than my own opinion.
