deogratias}:
Ethiopian/Abyssinian is also correct

signumcrucis.net/rites.htm

BTW many consider Geez to be a slang word for Jesus

Webster says it is a varient of Jeez

Function: interjection
Etymology: euphemism for Jesus
.
Ethopian/Abyssinian is the name for a person from Ethiopia/Abysinnia or that usage of the ALexandrian RIte. The Ethopians don’t have one language that they use. Ge’ez is an ancient liturgical langugae used by Ethiopian Christians. I did not mean it in the way that you posted. I never even knew that until now. Here is proof that Ge’ez is a liturgical language: www.catholic-forum.com/churchess/kidanemehret/
then go to the page"the Ge’ez Rite". Its not there fault that an ancient liturgical language and rite is considered a slang word? is it?

If I may, I would like to diffuse the Ge’ez tension by pointing out the all-important roled played by said word’s apostrophe. While I don’t know any Ge’ez, I do know that if it is at all related to Semitic languages then that apostrophe represents a consonantal stop between the two “e” vowel sounds. When the dictionary renders a meaning for the word “Geez/Jeez” this has nothing to do with the differently spelled “Ge’ez.”

Catholic Eagle - my apologies for my ignorance and my misreading of the word Ge’ez to be Geez and wrongly reprimanding you.
