Well, I’m not sure about the part where he says that a Latin-devoid mass is an abuse. But, I do know that the original publication language of the Missale Romanum is Latin, and that it is the default language. That’s for all editions, including, but not limited to, the NO edition. The vernacular editions have to be approved by the Vatican, and if the Vatican finds them deficient, then they may not be used, and the NO mass in Latin must be used instead. You can’t just translate, then BAM say a mass. There’s a process.I’m interested to see what others have to say about this. I’ve never heard of anything like that before. Where did you read this?
I’m not saying you’re wrong. I really am honestly wondering because I’ve never heard of such a thing.
In one of his writings, John XXIII (who convened Vatican II) said very clearly that Latin is to be upheld, and that the liturgy should not be done in the vulgar tongues.
