Anyone know of a good Latin hand missal for the Novus Ordo?

Thanks!

You want Latin only, not Latin-English? I don’t think any such exists, although apparently none exists for the TLM either (I’ve asked). Guess there isn’t much of a market for people who want to read things in Latin, unfortunately!

Latin/English would work, if it had everything in Latin (not just the Ordinary)… I dislike bilingual missals, though, both because of their heavier weight (2 languages instead of one), and that it’s way easier to just switch to the English. Well, that, and the English is changing within a year anyway (Deo gratias!).

Having checked briefly, I think that there do exist Latin hand missals for the OF, but I do not know if any are in print. This seems to be an example, but it is listed as “not available.” This might be an acceptable substitute; I don’t know if it’s the editio tertia. (Of course, none of these would have the readings, since the OF lectionary is much larger than the EF’s and comes in separate volumes.)

Perhaps the Gregorian Missal may suit you. It also lacks the readings since it’s primarily focused on providing the chants, and it does not have a full proprium sanctorum, but it does have all the Latin and English orations for every Sunday and all Solemnities and Feasts of the Lord. It also has the benefit that you can download the whole thing here (24 MB pdf). If you happen to be going on a random weekday or something, I don’t know of a better option than just printing out the day you need from someplace like here.

Thanks for the links. I was thinking something more along the lines of having everything in Latin so I can follow along with the English (I wonder how many people say that these days :D).

My guess is that you’re probably going to have to settle for Latin–English, unless you want to try to find books that are either out of print or prohibitively expensive. Good luck with the search though!

I think the Paxbooks links I gave you are the closest you’ll likely find to that. Otherwise, I agree with Damase – if there isn’t any general-use Latin hand missal for the TLM, there definitely won’t be one for the OF!

Makes sense. So few speak it anymore that there is not really any push for it to be mass-produced. (no pun intended) But it would be nice!

Adoremus Hymnal (pew version) has the entire OF latin on the left side and english on the right. BIG HOWEVER, why buy one when the english will change this coming year. I’d wait and see who publishes what next year.

Precisely. The new translation of the Mass comes out the First Sunday of Advent, 2011, so I’d wait until then to purchase one. (Although some will likely be available in advance of that date.)

This is a good point—I would definitely hold off on buying any new missals until after the change. But the OP doesn’t even want English in his missal; he wants an all-Latin O.F. missal.

Yeah…but I realize that it’s probably rather unlikely. Oh well… I could always have one printed myself…
