Latin Novus Ordo at Assumption Grotto

Well, we FINALLY made it!!! šŸ‘

We arrived very early, we got there much faster than I expected we would. So we had the opportunity to walk through the cemetery and visit the grotto which is truly lovely. It was such a peaceful and nice way to prepare for confession.

We stood in line for confession, and only one priest was available, and about 50 people in line! :eek: I thought for sure we wouldnā€™t make it before Mass started, and sure enough, we were still in line, and in the confessional while Mass was starting. We got to our pew in the middle of the first reading. :rolleyes:

I canā€™t begin to say how beautiful the Mass was! I did have a really hard time keeping up with the Latin, because Fatherā€™s mic was not turned up enough and I just couldnā€™t hear him to know where he was in the Mass. So that was a bit frustrating. But I still feel that I just donā€™t want to ever receive Holy Communion in any other way than at the rail, on my knees, and from a priest.

We are very seriously considering changing our membership to this parish.

Canā€™t wait to go back, and hopefully be able to follow along and learn the Mass in Latin!!! šŸ˜ƒ

Sounds great! Iā€™m glad you enjoyed it. Thereā€™s just something about Latin, chant, incense, Communion rail, ect. isnā€™t there? Unfortunately, it will be a while before I can attend one like that since I know have to work Sunday mornings and either have to go to the vigil Mass or evening Mass, neither of which use Latin.

And you just canā€™t beat a parish with an active convent! I so love to see the sisters at Mass in their full habits. :nun2:

ā€œGrottoā€ is my old parish and I truly miss it. Fr. Perrone does a wonderful job with the liturgy and catechesis. It is a wonderful Catholic parish with a very active faith life.

Make plans for Corpus Christi Sunday. That is one feast day you absolutely do NOT want to miss.

Check out St. Josaphat parish too. It is located near the intersection of I-75 and I-94. They have TLM (Tridentine Rite) there and it has been approved by Cardinal Maida.

The Canons Regular from Assumption Grotto celebrate TLM there.
