Is it absolutely necessary to learn Greek language ?
I sure hope not, or I’ll be going to hell. (Well maybe I can learn it in Purgatory and then go to Heaven.)

😉 😃

But seriously, I wouldn’t be too concerned. I’ve been to liturgies at a number of EC parishes, and most of them are mostly in English. (At a larger EC parish, they might possibly have one English liturgy, and another liturgy in Arabic/Ukrainian/etc.)

That is my experience as well at a local Maronite parish I try and get to at least once every two weeks or so. It is a wonderful option to have and I feel blessed to me so close to an eastern catholic parish; it makes me appreciate the beauty of both it and my Latin Rite parish–two sides of the same coin of beauty and truth.

Zekariya, Peter J, Shawnbm,

This is truly making Catholicism enjoyable 🙂 I hope someday Christendom will be one again 🙂

But for the time-being, I hope ( & pray ) that the TWO big chunks of Christendom (Orthodox Christians + Catholic Christians) will become united Patriarchates again during my lifetime… Just like in the EARLIEST days of the establishment of Rome, Alexandria, Antioch, Jerusalem, Constant(name removed by moderator)ole… PLUS the modern-day Orthodox Patriarchates… Just like when it did not matter which rite was used for which patriarchate 😃 ( of course, MINUS the disagreements. )

I can see it all coming during our time… This is making Catholicism more and more enjoyable 🙂 It’s almost like Google making the world an even smaller place to live in 🙂 Connecting everyone 😃

This is just my personal opinion 🙂 👍

By the way, I found this. It’s some food for all of us with the same goals/objectives:) Interestingly, it’s what we are actually doing right now. Let’s give ourselves a nice pat on the back 🙂

:(… ( of course, not yet for me, because I am still trying to find a nearby Eastern Catholic Church… so that I may take part in the wholeness of Jesus’ revelation too… I hope in a few days or hours from now… right now, it’s all reading the Eastern Catholic/Orthodox web shortcuts for me… )

I took this from 😃 the Everyone’s Catholic website NewAdvent.org… Nice topic from Blessed Pope John Paul II: newadvent.org/library/docs_jp02ol.htm

I was just wondering…can a Latin Rite Catholic get involved in a Maronite parish…like joining a parish group? I live right close to one and am very interested in the Eastern Rites and their cultures, languages.

I am already involved in my Latin Rite parish which is nearby as well, but I like to explore all things Catholic 😃

I am neither Maronite nor Lebanese, so I don’t know if that would be awkward lol!!
The first liturgy that I ever learned to serve was the Maronite liturgy. I am a convert and canonically (for now) Roman.

Hence, the answer is absolutely.

I guess it goes without saying (or maybe it doesn’t – why would I be asking if it did ;)) that you’re not talking about another Union of Brest, right?

By the way 🙂 Would you happen to have PDF/epub versions of “The Mystical Theology of the Eastern Church” ? I am still looking for a place to buy it… but in the meantime, I might start reading through PDF 🙂
