I flagged it. Why does she have to act as the forum police for imaginary infractions? I believe she could just ignore a topic if she doesn’t approve of it.
 
I think it was just a rather unfortunate timing that your thread appears when we seem to have had a rather recent influx of newcomers with agendas compared to days gone by for those of us who have been around this site a while.
 
Many of us (myself in particular, and I presume Clare, though I won’t speak for her) lament the loss of moderators in the change in format this site experienced a few months back. The tenor of the discussions has changed quite a bit, and not always for the positive.
 
Well, if something is objectionable or against forum rules, by all means flag it, but I often see posters who seem to want to squash certain topics, saying “we’ve already discussed modesty / Harry Potter, communion in the hand, etc”, but there are new people on these threads all the time, who want to discuss, and not just read old threads.
 
And if discussing a new aspect of one of those topics, I agree, but one of the forum rules actually states (or at least, used to) that posters should research the topic in old threads and not rehash. However, I digress… just stating that I can understand the frustration when a thread like this appears and it’s easy to think, “here we go again.” Perhaps unfair to newcomers and maybe even uncharitable, but understandable.

That is a question you need to ask Clare, not me…my own experience in reading Clare’s posts would indicate, yes, she does ask the question, and you are not being singled out.

With that thought in mind, I might wonder if you are as paranoid as you claim Clare or others to be…but then again, I will not be so bold to make a proclamation one way or another. Only you, after self reflection can answer that.

Clare was quite civil in her discourse, and she presents a good example for all of us to follow.

With all due respect, isn’t flagging it the same as acting as the forum police for imaginary infractions? Or are infractions only those posts that challenge your opinions?

If so, a blog might be a better venue for you than a social media site that encourages open discussion and exchange of thought and opinion.

And, it might be significant to note that Clare is not a flagger, she just speaks her opinion, as this site is designed for. If you choose to flag every post that disagrees or raises a question, that’s your business, but not all of us play that way.

I think it still varies from parish to parish, though the trend is toward the Julian.
 
From my old St. Joseph Missal from 1959, it lists the Holy Days of Obligation in the US as:
all Sundays, the Circumcision Jan 1, Ascension Day, The Assumption, All Saints, The Immaculate Conception and Christmas.
 
I also still have my St Joseph’s Missal from 1959, and use it for Litanies and prayers. it’s such a treasure!

Wasn’t it the Bible? I have a hard time believing they’d swear in a President with a Catholic Missal.
