I listen to the journey home almost every day and have a question regarding married couples that are married prior to coming home to the Catholic church.
If one party joins the church and the other party is not that far along in their journey can the party that joins the church receive communion. Are they considered living in sin or is there some special law that covers conversion of one person in a marriage?

I really enjoy these forms. I was in the group that catholicity had and had to end.

Thanks for the place to share and learn.

Marriages between non-Catholics are generally considered to be valid. If one spouse later becomes Catholic this in no way invalidates the marriage. The couple would not be “living in sin” and the Catholic would be able to receive the Eucharist.
