Is law of atraction traceable to the Bible? It’s a positive-thingking philosophy teaches that the energy of our dominant thoughts attracts our circumsntances.

Certainly - so try Galatians 6:8 - thoughts are things and all things are ideas or thoughts - all in fact is in [the]mind, for nothing can be outside [the]mind - twinc

Isnt this “law of attraction” a bit like a modern equivalent of medieval magic. Should we not be wary about it?

This so called law has its own religious connotations that are not in harmony with Christianity. It proposes that the universe is like God (infinite and eternal). we then can alter the universe with positive thinking through our thoughts. Thus we become one with universe (God). Not just being like god it is becoming a god through manipulating the universe to suit our own pleasures. Anything negative is therefore an illusion that gets in the way of this so called law. It can only be compatible to the “health and wealth” version of Christianity where one can “move a mountain” through positive thinking. As far as biblical quotes go there are many that speak of the benefits of human suffering.

LK 14:27. So those who do not carry their crosses and follow me cannot be my disciples.
2 tim 2:1: If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us.
Col 1:24: Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I do my share on behalf of His body, which is the church, in filling up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions.
Rom 8:17: Now if we are children, then we are heirs–heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

Jesus did not come to take away our burdens or make them disappear but to deal wih them. Thats why we can look to the cross and have a God that has suffered and through his sufferings we can find hope in ours.

I do not know why or accept that we should turn the good news of Christ into bad news for He said I have come not to judge the world but to save it so lets rejoice and be glad with the glad tidings of great joy and let the alleluias and hosannas ring out for He has come so that we may have life and have it to the full - twinc

Every read (in the bible) the book of Job? talk about a guy who stayed positive…

RUN. Such is New Age and very dangerous…(not some “just think good thoughts thing”)

Such things are NOT Good…you need to listen to Catholic Answers Radio (they are on the site) shows on this

look up the ones on New Age Deception…

I agree that there is great joy in christianity… but there is also joy in suffering. It is not to be denied suffering and pain is a fact of life. Its great to be positive but pain and suffering is not an illusion or did christ only appear to suffer? John Paul 2nd is a testament to the joy in suffering.

I agree with the posts above: The Law of Attraction is a New Age, occult philosophy.

Everything we have, comes from God. All our health, prosperity, family, friends – all comes from God, not from “positive thinking” or “laws of attraction”. It’s dangerous to think that we can use our own willpower and “thoughts” to attract success in our life. Success comes from God, and no other.

These New Age philosophies deny God, and tries to convince its followers that one can become god-like through positive thinking, the “law of attraction”, etc.

Our ability to “sow”, and our ability to “think”, are gifts from God, and no other. It is only through God that we have the ability to take any actions whatsoever.

The premise of the New Age and occult philosophy which you are espousing is quite simple:

It is the belief that Man can replace God, and become god-like. God becomes meaningless, and one relies on his own personal willpower, “positive thinking”, and “thought control” to bring success into one’s life.

Aleister Crowley, the famous (and evil) occultist, even had a famous phrase for this line of thinking: “Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law,” meaning one is free from the authority of God to do whatever he/she deems fit without consequence. This is pure Satanism in its unveiled form.

This is an erroneous philosophy, and dangerous no less to one’s spiritual development as a Catholic, Jew, or Muslim.

In fact, this occult philosophy is often equated with Lucifer, a rebellious angel that wanted to displace God and rule in His stead. It is a widely spread philosophy among the New Age and occult philosophers, and we see it spread in the works of many “success” and “positive thinking” authors, such as Napoleon Hill.

Any gifts or talents that we have, and any material possessions that we gain in this lifetime, come from the Creator. We are simply caretakers of these blessings. We cannot use our own personal willpower, thought control, positive thinking, or “law of attraction” to replace God.

I would urge anyone reading this thread to avoid New Age and occult philosophies such as the “Law of Attraction”, as these philosophies are atheistic, and run counter to Catholic doctrine.

If you truly want blessings in your life, go to Mass every day, go to weekly confession, pray the Rosary daily, read and study the Bible, and pray constantly to God. These thoroughly Catholic practices will gain you many more blessings in your life than following some dangerous, New Age occult philosophy.

Thank you all for sharing. It’s wonderful!

There’s a book called the MOSES CODE by James Twyman and he introduces a very simple manifestation technique.

The book explores the conversation when Moses stood in front of a burning bush and asked for God’s name. Moses then harnessed the power found in the name of God to help secure the freedom of the Israelite slaves.

Exodus 3:13-15:

“And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, the LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations”

The technique is simply:

In your head, say, “I AM THAT, I AM.” to attract what you want.

And if you like, you can turn it up a notch by saying, “I AM THAT ______ (fill in with what you want in your life), I AM.”

Here a GREAT TIP to notch it up a bit:

On the “I AM THAT” exhale and on the “I AM” inhale.

On the “I AM THAT” you are telling God/ The Universe that you are THAT,

and on the “I AM” imagine it’s God/ The Universe telling you that yes, you are THAT.

But notice God is saying it using the word “I,” instead of “you” (“I AM”). That’s because you are ALSO One with God. So God is claiming for you what you desire, AS YOURSELF. He’s saying that you are Him and yes, you are that which you desire as well.

You have the Power of God inside of you and you are using it when you are saying this. So go ahead and try to FEEL what you are saying. You are announcing to the Universe that you are THAT which you are attracting and God is telling you, yup that’s yours. You are THAT. And I am also you. So yes, “I Am.” And if you’re saying it out loud you’ll actually hear the 2 parts sounding differently when you inhale and exhale.

No Sorry.
Didnt Jesus just teach us to say the Our Father?

I read a book lately entitled, the secret History of the world, which apparantly was a best seller and gave the low-down of the history of esoteric and mystery cults through the gnostocs, rosicrucians, masons and illuminati.
Perhaps even more disturbing was to read about the goings on of Aleister Crowley and his disciples, Jack Parsons and L.Ron Hubbard, which are not unrelated in the sense of turning to a kind of magick.
In my opinion, Crowley, Masonry, and New Age (including the Laws of Attraction) could be lumped together as being the profoundly opposed to our belief system and the Truth.
It seems that only catholicism has been consistent in standing up against these groups who attempt to seek a shortcut to power through non-godly supernatural (i.e. demonic) forces.
In a way its almost worse than atheism, and really if our religion does not pick up in the public square, and especially in Europe, then I see a lot of people who are not conceited enough to become atheists, opting for this kind of dark-religion to fill the spiritual vacuum. Woman especially. Frightening.
