Hi again all,

There was a thread somewhere here about a year ago about Lay Benedictines. I can’t find it now. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

While I am at it…being new…how do I keep the same quote to be at the end of each of my postings?

Peter B.

Please share your interest in Lay Benedictines with us. What you may be referring to are the Benedictine Oblates and/or the Cistercian Lay Associates. These are both groups of lay people, (men and women alike depending on the abbey/monastery they associate themselves with) who are drawn to the Rule of St. Benedict and Benedictine spirituality.

I am also very interested in these groups, and I am trying to discern whether or not I have a vocation to either of them.

Please tell us what you think about Lay Benedictines.

Thanks for your replies so far.
I was in fact referring to the Oblates of Saint Benedict…OblSB.
I have been an Oblate myself for over 3 years. Some friends have expressed general interest in this. Rather than sending them directly to the Director of Vocations,I was just looking for general information for them for starters.
I am a member of the Holy Trinity Chapter (Based in Perth),affiliated to The Monastery of New Norcia.
I can 100% recommend this Chapter to any Australian,in fact to anyone. The tyranny of distance prevents me from attending monthly meetings of The Chapter as I live in Tasmania, but I still keep in touch as much as possible by snail mail and the Internet.
There is a Chapter in Camperdown,Victoria,(Anglican).
Most members of Holy Trinity Chapter are married persons, but there are some singles, such as myself and a smattering of Diocesan Clergy.
I would be willing to converse privately peterb@catholic.org with anyone caring to do so.

I STILL haven’t figured out how to install a permanent Signature.
Bro.Gregory OblSB.
