On a completely different note, why is it that when I quote your posts they come up with all kinds of stuff about font and color but your posts don’t look any different than anyone else’s and they are not in different colors?
I get the same thing. It is because he writes his posts in a word processor first, and cuts/pastes them. Goes with the cut/paste of the same ideas/quotes over and over. 😃 Very efficient, and saves time, but gives the impression there is no thought given to what the poster he is responding to, said.

I agree with the above statement, but to be clear, the baby ALWAYS dies. To call it a non-abortion when a 1-8 week old (maybe longer) fetus is removed from the woman’s body by cutting out a section of the fallopian tube is semantics IMO.
This is the only place where my personal position differs from the Catholic position. I would advocate that a woman with an ectopic pregnancy act directly upon the fetus rather than undergo surgery to preserve “double effect.” This is more dangerous for the mother and the baby ALWAYS dies.

We’re talking about what is moral and what is not.

No one believes that nothing should be done in the attempt to save the mother’s life. What we believe is that both lives should be considered, and both if possible should be attempted to be saved. Our medical technology is not yet able to save an ectopic embryo. The action taken to save the mother’s life has an indirect effect on the embryo.

Abortion is a direct action against the embryo or fetus with the purposeful intent to end its life.

An excellent book on Catholic Morality is “Morality: The Catholic View”, byPinkcaers, Servais, O.P.
